Re: I'm losing faith in humans

People are so incompetent or careless these days. I had a set of TSW wheels that have a screw on cap that covers the center bore hole. The Tech used too much force to clamp the wheel to the balancing machine. They slide the wheel over the axle on the balancer. The axle has threads for the big nut th...

Re: swear no E30 people listen to me about spring rates

I guess we'll see how well the fronts handle the extra weight of the S52 on the track in a couple of months. M

Re: swear no E30 people listen to me about spring rates

Tony.

Are the front Bilstein cartridges in TMS J-stock package specially valved for the J-stock springs?
The rears are definitely revalved, but I can't feel any difference between the fronts and regular Bilstein sport fronts....It's kinda pissing me off...feels too soft in rebound.

Re: Comprehensive Lug Pattern List

The VW wheels and wheel bolts have a ball taper.
Most other makes have a 60 degree taper.

Re: planning for next season...more grip, more power.

3+ seconds from Hoosier Autox rubber. 3+ seconds from the driver. Definitely doable.
The Cam swap will dictate more head work and more exhaust in order to maximise the package.
Do you know where the CM guy is saving time?

More roll resistance(Springs and bars),Increase negative camber, Lower center of gravity.
You have to turn your car into a racecar, like Tony's.
The tyre wear shows that you are too fast for the current set up of the car...seriously.

Re: Nick's 2012 Autocross Thread.

feels more like a road race than an autox. Also, your gas door flaps :) Haha yeah it was pretty much a road race. And I got a good laugh at watching the gas door flap around. I love those videos right by the front wheel. Its amazing to me watching how much movement there is in the stock suspension!...

Re: Intake Manifold Removal

Get a wobbly extension kit. On my car, some of the manifold nuts fit a 12mm socket and some fit a 13 mm socket. I also had to use a 1/4" drive ratchet, sockets and extension on some of the hard to get to bolts. Have some grey RTV silicone on hand if you don't want to buy a throttlebody gasket a...

Re: Rust in Gas Tank...

Any progress? My M3 sat for a couple of years as I accumulated $ and parts to rebuild the engine. After it was back together, both pumps died. I drained the the nearly full tank of rusty coloured fuel. I filtered the fuel and got a few grams of fine sediment. I replaced the lift pump with OEM but bo...

Re: Error code 1222...uht oh.

It would be interesting to scope the combustion chambers see if the intake valves are coked up. Does it smoke briefly once it starts? Another possible reason for the oil in the chambers is worn valve stem seals. If the car smokes a bit on start up, it is a symptom of worn valve stem seals. I watched...
