turbo manifold question?

Postby joecrotch » Tue Jul 27, 2010 5:37 am

So I have the ebay manifold on my car and it has worked great for me. but after I had a small oil fire in the engine bay it has just never looked the same. so I am wondering what kinda paint or coating can i have done to it to spiff it up a bit. would regular engine paint work? i have seen the manifold glowing red before so I know it gets hot as hell.
i found this but i was thinking something a little more diy http://carcraftinc.com/turbohot.html

what do you guys think?

I've never seen paint stick on manifolds for very long. Header wrap ftw.

header wrap is def the best option, but they make high temp header paint that would work. I think it's good to 2000* F, made by Rustoleum.

That header paint works great, if done correctly- Its much harder to do on a turbo manifold, because of the time it take to mount it back up and get everything hooked up so you can start it to help cure it- Wrap is a great way to go, no doubt. And if your header is glowing...... I'd go with the wrap ;) and I'd check out how hot you are running that motor too 8)
