hmm, guess I need to do a little more reading then. 21psi would be fine for a while, I want to start with the boost lower and bump it up as I get used to it, but eventually I want to run 2 bar.

Basically Tony, sorry to say but for 30psi you are about to spend big.
Injectors, manifold, turbo, w/g, plumbing, fuel pump, exhaust, NOS and of course standalone should hit close to another 4k easily. We both love our V8's and we know that it still costs big to play hard, this isn't anything different. With the right setup feeding that engine??? Daamn boi!
Better start reading into engine management, i had to. The more that you see some ecu systems can do, the more you are willing to spend in the end. If you want to make big power you are going to want to control every aspect of it. With some reading it was quite easy to get my head around it.

Yeah, I guess I have some more planning/research to do. I already planned on spending around 3-4k on the turbo setup, I would rather it take longer and be right rather than cut corners to have it right now. I'll be spending the next couple months doing more research and decide which way I want to go. Once I have a better understanding of engine management I should have some cash saved up for the ECU. In the end I may have 8-10k in the motor/turbo but I have a feeling it will be worth it.

I have a job that doesn't pay to bad either but i opened my big mouth and asked my wonderful bitch to marry me and she said YES! Who would have figured? I just paid 2k for my air fare to Europe plus about to shell out another 1500 for the lease car and who knows what else is coming. Still, i love this chick and more importantly she loves me and she already has turbo so, when i get back there is no problem for me getting myself turbo as well.
Just gotta get hitched and its all dandy after that.....i hope.

Should I make it flashy with colors, and a picture of my car?
This is fine... People will know it's me just by looking at this text,
not my screen name.BLUE or perhaps a large .gif. Hmm.

haha, thankfully my wife knew what she was getting into with my car addiction. I just talked her into buying her Chevelle to play with so I can justify spending all our income on the e30. :) For real though, once "my" money became "our" money progress on the cars slowed a bit. I her defense we now have an awsome home and strong investments to show for it, so no harm no foul, lol.

Can anyone reccomend a good book to star reading up on engine management? I've already read Maximum Boost like three times, but I want to get more into the fundamentals on management.

I forget what i read but honestly the megamanual taught me the most. the average EFI book youll read just tells you about it. not how to actually tune.

Unless your priority is to smoke the tires in every gear or drag race every weekend an M20 running 15 to 20 PSI is plenty.
MS2Extra works fantastic.
When I say it is running perfectly I mean perfectly.
Happy to share my msq to get anyone up and running.
My #1 tip for M20 turbos is install a filtered catch can off the valve cover outlet.
#2 tip With proper MS tuning you don't need a cold start valve.
#3 tip Use a stock head gasket and bolts on a re-surfaced head and block.
My 9 to 1 CR stroker M20 motor with less than 2k miles on it will be for sale soon after I get my M50/52 in.

I live 15min from the local drag strip, so yeah that will be a big part of the car, though I will be doing autox and such when it's around.
