Okay, so I found an engine! We've gotten the hard part taken care of - the engine is out of the car. We ran into a little hang up, though. We can't figure out how to get the engine harness out of the car. It looks like part of the harness runs into the fuse box (which makes sense, I guess). I haven't found anything online that talks about how to remove that portion from the fuse box, and I haven't seen anyone bring the whole e30 fuse box over. The guy I'm getting it all from says he thinks I need the fuse box, but I'm not so sure.

You remove the connector from the ECU and feed it through the grommet, not the easiest thing in the world if I remember right.

Wrong side of the harness... I'm talking about the x20 side of the e36 harness. Sorry, I should have been more clear

got pix? Why not just disconnect the X20 and fuck the rest of the harness? You don't need it.

I'm an idiot. There are 3 relays attached to the side of the fuse box. I don't know if they are used in the swap. If we had just opened the lid of the fuse box we would have seen them and saved ourselves another trip over. The motor/trans are in my driveway. 24V build thread to come.

Those relays are the same as in E30s iirc. They are the fuel pump/o2/main relays. It should be attached to the main harness.

Question, what kind of bracket moving does changing to a M5x engine do to you?

Can you be more specific? The relay mounting? I just put it on the factory E30 one. Looks factory!

Those relays are for fuel pump, abs I think and something else, why not reuse em?
