Brake pads

Postby Yoshi » Sat Jan 16, 2016 10:41 pm

I feel like most brake pads have very simple characteristics, friction, friction through heat range, wear, and dust. I'm looking for something with good cold bite. drifting doesn't really matter much with heat.

Anywho, anyone done more leg work than me? I'm looking at spec stuff but they care more about heat range. Thinking about the HT 10. someone said carbonetechs or something I've never heard of.

HT10 needs a fair amount if heat to hit its peak stopping power. I love the HP+ for cold bite, but still great stopping power when heated. I can do 15min hard lapping with no fade, but they still bite great right off the line. They do dust a lot though.

The other option I want to try but haven't yet are the Stop Tech pads. Heard good things about them for the same reasons I like the HP+.

The turner motorsports guy I talked to said to use OEM pads. Which sounds odd to me.. He said that OEM pads have the best cold bite. The autozone $18 pads probably don't do crap. So I guess I'll grab new front rotors and pads and see how that does. *shrugs*

DO NOT use OE pads man, they will fade to nothing in a lap or two. If you want to shop around just google up time attack brake pads, lots of info on other options.

I don't do real track days though. OE pads work great for drifting because my brakes never heat up. My use case is super unique.

Side note though. I definitely can lock up the front tires. So that means the fronts are at least good enough. Too bad the rear likely won't. That rabbit master fubared the bias.

I've liked the Stoptech pads from my usage in my E30s. but that's solo laps at the Nurburgring and Hockenheim so I can't give ya a good indicator on multiple laps. Great cold bite though and cheap, why not try em yourself?

Damn late to the show Mr. Decker. I got some stock OEM stuff for the front. I can def lock up the fronts now. I should probably get some for the rear but I'm cheap as all hell.

Was there more spam with his post? Or are there other posts that I didn't notice.
