$8 ABS unit delete

Post by Yoshi » Mon Jan 16, 2017 10:30 pm

So here's my thought. The regular ABS models of the E30 works pretty simply. The rear line from the master goes to the ABS unit, then to the rear prop valve and then splits in the rear. The front goes from the master, to the ABS unit, then it splits from there to both from brakes.

Couldn't you just disconnect the rear input line from the ABS unit and put it into the rear prop valve (Part #5 in the picture linked), then Just use a T fitting to connect the front input to the front two brakes?

Basically, just buy #3 in the diagram above and bend lines. Why doesn't anyone do this?

You need something in the system to maintain the minimum line pressures front and rear. I'm not sure how the ABS unit works, but often the check valve is integrated into it.
