There's probably a tool that does this... Someone find it. I'm lazy.

i think they called it a "blind hole puller" i had no idea they had a tool like that, i brought in a gasket and the guy at autozone was nice enough to look for the right tool, deposit only free rental, i never rented tools, i thought they charged per day like o'reillys. anyway rack is finished i just hope i didn't mess up the rack from trying to hammer out that stubborn ring. i always used r3v or sometimes e30tech but i love the community here much better. thanks for all the support!

yes with power steering, how do you guys feel about reusing the pressure hose fittings and banjo bolts/washers, they probally are 20ish year old but no noticable cracks, leakage or damage

Always use new crush washers, they are one time use.

I always reuse them and wind up with tiny TINY weeping connections. Really they are one time use. They should be replaced. Don't do what yoshi does.

lol, new crush washers, got it. OEM or homedepot same? copper crush washers work? Also should i fill the steering rack with some ATF through the hardline holes? I know its a self bleeding system but will it be ok if its dry for a few seconds?

When you assemble it, you should use some lube. Because of that, I don't think preoiling is necessary but it wouldn't hurt. Home depot sells crush washers? I thought they sold just regular ones. I'd go with OEM stuff.

copper or aluminum, doesn't matter as long as they are the right size. I would just get OEM, their like a dollar each iirc.

Thanks for the great write up. I used sockets that would fit in the rack that were just the right size to drive out the inner seals. Hope that helps others.
