Re: A couple questions about rear struts...
Yoshi pretty much summed it up. It doesn't get any better than J Stock in a conventional spring setup for e30s period. Check r3v, I've seen at least 2 sets in the FS section there in as many months going for around $300-400.
H&R is OK for light track duty or autox, but rides horribly on the street. FWIW I cut like 2 seconds off my lap times going from H&R to J Stock, and I actually like driving my car on the street again.

Re: A couple questions about rear struts...
Sounds like that's what I should be going with. I looked at it again, and it's more like $225 total difference. I listed an e30 M3 cylinder head I have for sale on r3v. I'm going to keep my eye out for a used setup, but if I don't see one I'll probably be getting something new. For the time being, I'll just buy a $15 strut from advance auto so I can move the car around.

I've asked Turner the same questions I asked Bilstein. Let's see what they say; I know stock springs on J Stock struts would suck lol

It's not daily comfy. But it handles like a monster. I could easily daily drive it. I know people that do.

Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Yeah, shocks are valved to the springs so paired with worn out stock springs I'm sure it would suck. Gotta do both at the same time.

Not concerned about comfort, just harm to the dampers.
Another note. Any recommendation on RSM? IE, Rogue, Ebay?

Re: A couple questions about rear struts...
Argh - just got a response from Doug at TMS. He says yes running a very stiff shock with a very soft spring could be harmful and all four should be installed with the corresponding springs. Looks like that might throw a wrench in my plans. I'm going to see if I can ghettorig the old strut back on...

Dang. You guys were recommending me H&R Race springs a few months ago. I got em. I like em. Never driven J-Stock though.

Re: A couple questions about rear struts...
I always recommend jstock. Unless you're a street only car.

Re: A couple questions about rear struts...
TMS can revalve bsports to J Stock rates for like $65 ea. so you can just do that when when you have the money to buy the springs.

Re: A couple questions about rear struts...
Well I got my old strut back on, so I bought myself some time. I'll probably save up for the J Stock set up. Even some of the guys on the spec e30 forums speak more highly of the J Stocks.

Re: A couple questions about rear struts...
Funny, I saw that too. They're sold now, though. It's probably for the better. Buying used struts never seems like a good idea.
