Tie Rods...

Postby duke30 » Sun Feb 16, 2014 2:37 am

I'm new to this site. and i have done my research a little bit but my situation is different i guess... its a e30 5 lug swap. e36///m front hubs brakes and the bastard set up for suspension... currently i am having a deli-ma of finding out what tie rod i need for a e46 LCA swap with a z3 rack and akg bushings in the works. im thinking about using stock e30 inner and outer rods with tie rod spacers. but when i go to the store on Monday to order tie rods. i kinda want to have a idea what to get. it has been mentiond before to use a 1976 dodge tie rod coupler.... please help :/

Man, sounds like a hot mess for the suspension...I can't help, but Yoshi might have some idea of what combo would work.

Yeh its pretty crazy. Sometimes I wish I have 4 lug... I have seen the posts yoshi commented on a while ago and it seems like it will work with e30 inner and outer..... I went a head and ordered them last night

Personally I would just sell all that stuff and go back to 4 lug. Aside from wheel selection there is no benefit to 5 lug swap, and often makes it near impossible to get proper alignment specs, and it changes the handling due to the movement of the front wheel.

Stock E30 inner/outer only works if you already have tie rod spacers. Otherwise, it'll be about 5mm too short. I forget the accepted combo. It's on the forum somewhere. I think it's E90 inner and E30 outer but it could be E30 inner and E90 outer. I'm leaning more toward the first one.
