Rubber sideskirts

Postby antil33t » Wed Feb 02, 2011 9:16 pm

with my ACS bodykit, it's made from rubber, and plastic.

the sideskirts are rubber, and the front/rear aprons are plastic.

the front/rear aprons are fine, just need sanded back to paint them again (paint is flaking hard on the rear)

but the sides have a kink in them, the paint shop said if I can remove the kink, and remove most of the flaking paint they can quickly prep them and paint them properly for me, for alot less money/time than if they had to repair.

has anybody got any idea how to remove a kink from rubber? after speaking to a few people they've said I need to get it completely hot to allow it to bend back out... was thinking soak the whole skirt in water, and keep heating it till it bends back out?

or standing around for ages with a heatgun?

Do you have photos of this kink? Sounds like it may be kinda major... And are they hollow? (as in... can you get to the INSIDE of the kink, or is it in-cased, like a tube?)
