Weld on a new shock tower?

Postby Yoshi » Wed Nov 30, 2011 8:58 pm

This is for a nissan I inherited but the theory applies. The shock tower rusted before the frame. Car got hit (or rather hit something) and the shock tower ripped from the frame.

The frame is 100% fine but the shock tower is no where near the stock position. I can get a replacement section but how do I weld it on and know it's in the correct position?

beyond my experience, but If I was going to attempt it I would but out the scale and micrometer and match it to the good one as closely as possible.

I assume you would need some sort of stock jig. either a very solid rear bar (connects top of tower to top of tower) or a jig that would mount to some other (immovable) orientation point. I would talk to Robert (peerless) about it, I am sure he would konw.
