Diagnostic connector.. which pins are 11 &14..?

Postby vvurdsmyth » Fri Oct 19, 2012 10:54 pm

RE: '86 325e- Another site suggests connecting the remote switch (I like to adjust my valves HOT at about half the spec clearance; did that on all of the 2002s I've had)... but those guys won't say which ones are pins 11 & 14... Bently's index doesn't have anything on the diagnostic connector.. I take it that it is the large connector mounted to the firewall.. between the engine & fuse box.. the pins aren't numbered; can anyone clue me in...?

For early models, that's the round connector by the intake manifold isn't it? Where you reset the service lights? I think the pins are labeled on the cap of that one.

They are numbered on the other side of the connector face. You have to pull up the rubber boot. It's REALLY hard to see.

Yoshi, finally getting to the valve adjustment.. regarding the OBD connector, reading the pin numbers on the cap.. I don't want to mess anything up by connecting the wrong pins to the remote start button/switch.. the OBD cap.. do you read the numbers on the cap correspond in the same pattern as if the cap were still on, or with the cap off and flipped over..?

I thought flipped over. You should be able to read them pretty clearly.
