Alpine CM5907 Security code?

Why do I have to unlock my doors through my trunk?

Alpine CM5907 Security code?

Postby Shaffer325ix » Mon Nov 10, 2014 11:50 pm

Hey guys. I bought an old unit off eBay. An Alpine CM5907. The guy told me I could call my local stealership and get the factory security code.. They basically told me to go pound salt. The s/n is F70813446. I've tried a few codes I found online with no luck.

Any of you familiar with code procurement, or have any "sources"?
I would be forever in your debt.

The CM5907 has a hardwired code set by diodes soldered across jumper pins. There is a way to decode it by looking at them, but I'm not sure how. Also from what I've read if you put in the wrong code 3 times the radio will lock you out for 75 minutes. That's 75 minutes with the power ON, so you can't just shut off the car and come back later, you must leave it on the full 75 minutes and then you can try again. It gives no warning that it's in lockout mode.

Yes, I'm aware of the lockout. The car was on while I was working on me (now sans muffler) exhaust. The diode thing is news to me.. If I can crack the code I wonder if I can resolder them to make my own code, like 666 , or 687 5309....

5 digit code, valid digits for that radio are only 1-5. And isn't she 867, not 687?

Detroit? Ahh, F it.. She's tainted now..

Has anyone ever heard.of.a way to drive the speakers without a head unit using only my phone? A media player would be better suited for me, but I'm going for that hardcore racecar "look" .. gauges n switches n junk.. I'd like to use the radio hole for gauges but I can't go without tunes.. I normally only listen to Pandora. I'm not happy with what the local country radio stations play these days.. to much pop garbage.

Do a search for "carputer" and you'll get thousands of ideas. Mini-itx system stashed in the trunk with bluetooth connection you can use your phone as a remote and don't even need to store the music on it.

Theoretically, you could just hook your phone up to an amp. *shrugs* I put a head unit back into the race car with an aux in and USB input. Carputers are kind of a pain for all that effort IMO. And I work in IT!

But yea, you could probably shove in a raspberry pi and have your way with it. Still needs an amp.

Yeah I've been toying with the idea of a carputer for many years. Ever since the "EMPEG" Linux car stereo empeg.com back in the 90's before Rio or whatever bought them and took Linux off of it. For my e30 I had plans of putting a touch screen display in the pocket behind the ash tray for the carputer. Never got around to doing anything. Still have the shitty Sony head unit that was in the car when I bought it. I even have a nice Kenwood sitting at home in the box that's MUCH better than the Sony, but I can't get myself to install it.

Never thought of using a raspberry pi. I have to get a few of them to play with if I ever have the time. I have a Commodore 64 emulator with just about every program ever written for it on an SD card and an adaptor to hook up a C64 joystick to a raspberry pi. I should put that in my car too and I can drive around bumping the 8 bit classics. lol

Yes and no. The signal coming out of the phone's earphone port wouldn't be strong enough to get good sound to the amp. You'd need to hook it up to a good line driver to up the voltage enough for the amp to make good use of it.

You can install one of these behind the dash and use the remote to control it. Run the aux rca > female headphone jack to the dash, drill a small hole and mount it nice and clean. Then you just need a double male headphone cord to plug your phone into it.
