Clicking link to other sites opens a new tab?

Postby Nsquared97 » Wed Nov 30, 2011 10:50 pm

Don't know if this has been covered at all, I scanned through the list of threads in here but didn't see anything. Anyway, is there a way that we can make it so that when you click a link somebody posts on here, it opens in a new tab instead of directing you away from here? I keep exiting out of youtube videos or whatever that people post and get annoyed when I realize I close out the tab I was browsing e3p on.

BTW, if this is something stupid I need to change with my browser let me know, I promise I won't feel too stupid.

Try right clicking on the link. The little menu that pops up usually has a "open in new window" and a"open in new tab" option. Hope this helps

In most browsers middle clicking (if you have 3 mouse buttons), or holding CTRL while you click, will open in a new tab.

Chrome. Don't know why I didn't think of right clicking it to be honest. Just figured since most other forums I have been on open a new tab, we might be able to do it here as well.

My day job is a web programmer. Nothing drives me crazier than people that tell me that all links should open in a new window. It should be your choice what it opens as. If I set it to open in a new window, it will ALWAYS open in a new window. What if you're a person that hates multiple windows? Ya no?

Just venting :-p

Amen brutha! I'm one of those ppl who hates multiple windows. I almost always open everything in a new tab, but _I_ want to be the one to make that decision, not the guy who designed the page.

May I ask what websites you've done? I used to be a back end web programmer. Didn't do much of the front end design, but I knew how to if I needed to.
