My 87 is an iS and I didn't get the dummy package.

because your car is an 'iS', his is an 'e' with an 'iS' appearance package.

I was just confused as to why my eta is rated for the same kw/hp as the i cars? Is it a matter of similar power from the engine but very different delivery?

Yeah, it was loaded. Like I've said before--kinda a wierd car. Would the iS package be what makes it an es instead of just an e or is that just an odd option?

Options say my 325i came with an LSD... there 100% wasn't one when I pulled it out years ago... hmmmm

Also, apparently spare tires were an option on E46s..

It's quite surprising how many new cars have the spare tire as an option that they don't even tell the customer about. Toyota is advertising the LACK of spare tire as a "feature". Every week I tow several Volvo's and Hyundai's for flat tires, and MOST of the owners never knew they didn't have a spare tire until they needed it.

My E30 didn't come with a standard LSD; someone swapped it in. Otherwise, no surprises for that, my parts cars, or my daily E36.

To be honest your build sheet is confusing...Never seen an 'e' car with iS trim and M Sport suspension, especially an '85. I don't think an iS was even available in '85, so this would predate the actual 325iS by 2 years. Its worth doing some more investigation. Have you done a carfax on it? That might give you the dealer that sold it.

even if it was built in '85 as an '86 model there was no 325iS available. I highly doubt an '87 model would be built in '85.

Carfax doesn't show anything really.

I'm only the second owner and I bought it from a BMW dealership in San Diego. I was told at the time that it was originally purchased in as an '86 model, I think in the spring of '86. I've actually been told it was a "lead in" to the M3, which now sounds like a stretch. Wasn't the first M3 an '87 year model? Or maybe they meant the iS...

It has nothing to do with the M3, maybe the iS since '87 was the first year for the iS.
