May be adding to my fleet

Postby 87e30 » Wed Mar 12, 2014 6:35 pm

Today I came across an early 325e 5 speed blue on blue that has been sitting at a shop near me for over a year. Supposedly the only thing it needs is a dizzy, and the owner might be willing to part with it for scrap value. omg I'm so excited! That would make a sweet DD while I take my 325is off the road to finally get some serious work done to it. It's a 4 door, but I can live with that for that kind of price. :-)

Schwarz 5-speed 87 325e (parts car/LS1 swap?)
Gazellenbeige automatic 85 318i (70,000 miles)
Alpine white 5-speed 87 325is (my first e30, possibly for sale)

Bet you it has a no start condition that requires retooling of the flywheel and both CPS'

Negative? Nah... realist :)

Is that a long, hard, expensive process? I really don't know much about e cars other than the flywheel is different and people are always complaining about sensors the i's don't have. I don't mind spending a few bucks getting it running right if I have to. The car is far from perfect, but it looks much better than my white IS. I only looked it over from the outside briefly, the only bad things I could see were the leather comfort seats looked very used. Cracked, but not ripped anywhere. Also the clearcoat is about 80% missing. No rust spots peeking out, but I didn't examine closely, as I had another tow waiting for me at an impound yard.

It's not terribly expensive. Though the CPS' are kind of pricey. The flywheel pin, if it fell out, just needs to have a fresh one put in and secured. Peerless/robert has a write up. Really, it's just a pita because you should take the flywheel out once.

Well too bad, it's MINE! :-P lol, I hope it will be mine soon. Although it will mean I have less money to work on the IS for a while, I could at least do some work that would take it off the road for a few days and still be able to get myself to work.

That sounds awesome dude, I'd pick it up just for the interior, if everything but the seats is solid. I want blue interior so bad... :'(

I would, but I don't have much left to trade haha

I have HAD tan interior, but the carpet is gone. The door cards have pretty bad water damage, and I want to keep the sport seats for the time being. The rear is great, though lol

My M10 car has parts of a blur interior left lol. Seat are gone, still have the door cards, rear deck and carpet. Front door cards have some rips in the cloth though.

Blue on tan is what I have now have, tan seats over what's left of the blue interior. Best part is the leather pass. sport seat, vinyl comfort drivers seat, leather rear seat back and vinyl rear seat bottom, all tan.

Yeah, that essentially is what killed my eta.

I'd do it; they are slow but feel faster than they are, and are crazy economical to boot if you spend most of your time on the highway.
