Advice: Trade for Hartge 16x7.5

Postby chinnick12 » Mon Aug 31, 2015 4:18 am

Hi all,

I've currently got a set of genuine 3 piece Simmons B45's, 15x8 et25 PCD: 4x100 which I got a good deal on, they'd be perfect for my E30.. However, I put them up for swap/sale to see what else might be out there and someone has offered me a set of 4 Hartge (type A's I think they're called?) with centrecaps in reasonable condition.. Size 16x7.5 et25 PCD: 4x100 which I know are a rare wheel and suit the E30 perfectly..

Now I've never seen any for sale in Australia and I know they're rare and good wheels, I've found that a modest price for my Simmons wheels is about $1000 AUD, would this be a fair trade? Considering mine don't come with centrecaps..

Advice would be appreciated! TIA.
Bottom photo is one of my Simmons wheels.

Not sure value in Aus, but here in the states Genuine Hartage A go for around $150-200 each. Value aside, the Hartage is a much better looking wheel on an e30 IMO.

That's what I'm thinking, the b45's look good but the Hartge's just suit the car so much better.. These Simmons only owe me about 400 aussie $ so can't lose really.. Plus I can get a more preferred tyre size with 16's over 15's! :)

IMO 16" is the perfect size for an e30 with stock fenders, plus you can go to a BBK with them. :)

That's it! I'm sure the 15's would've cleared a bbk just fine but now I can be extra sure :)

I agree with Tony, the Hartge's are some really good looking wheels and 16" is perfect for a stock E30!

I've gone ahead with the trade, should see my new wheels on Monday :D
Just need to find new centrecap logo's, I've found ones I can order but I don't know the diameter of them.. Need to wait til I can measure them to order some!

She isn't entirely stock Ryki, but she isn't worked either haha, either way the only time I'd upgrade from the Hartge's is for a set of the 3 piece version!
Cheers for the help fellas.

I went ahead and got the wheels, they're in pretty reasonable condition and so are the centrecaps.
Just tossing up between 225 width Street radials or 205 semi slicks, I can get either for the same price, not sure if the extra 20mm of width on the radials will create enough grip for it to be worth having over the semi's for the sake of how many km's I'll get out of either...
Aaanyway, once I get them on just gotta lower the rear a bit and I'll upload some photos asap :)

Typically those tires will end up being near in width : )
