Where's the Best Place to Research the E32?

Postby WildKarrde » Fri Jul 01, 2016 2:38 pm

So, I picked up an E32 this week, and I've been perusing the E32 section on bimmerforums, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any better forums out there for the E32?

Do 7 series people work on their own cars? lol

I got no clue. I think bimmer forums is your best bet honestly.

Tell me you got a 767i with the Goldfish V16 engine.

I'm with Yoshi on this one... I never heard of a 7 series owner doing much of any work on their own cars.

This guy will! Lol. It doesn't really need anything right now, but I can't afford to pay somebody else to maintain it. It's got the M30B35, so I can't imagine it would be too hard to work on. I'm more interested in some minor performance modifications, such as a tighter steering rack, brakes, etc, but it seems most people don't modify their 7-series that much. I can probably find engine modifications from mye28.com.

A goldfish would be freaking amazing! I can't imagine being able to afford one, even if I could find one though. Wasn't that only a prototype? I just got a lowly 735i. It's pretty rough cosmetically, but is in excellent mechanical condition, and only cost $2000. I know where I can get all the parts to turn it into a manual later, as well. :D

Man I could have had a nice minty dealer maintained (the owners husband worked at the dealership down the street from my job) 750i for $500 a few years back, but I chose my first e30 instead. It actually sat in the dealership parking lot for like 8 years before they decided to get rid of it. Obviously it needed a battery and all new belts/fluids, but otherwise it didn't need a damn thing.

The E30 was the right decision, lol. I've still got both of mine. Won't sell them unless it's to afford a nicer classic BMW. I was strongly considering trading them along with some other stuff for an E28 M5, but somebody else beat my offer.

The main reason I got the 7-series is that the E30's are starting to become too valuable to drive without collectors insurance on them. Plus the 325 is parked for a partial restoration. The 735i almost certainly has a manual transmission swap in its future though... unless it gets wrecked, in which case I'll use the M30B35 in an E28 build. 208 HP without modifications would be awesome in the E28 chassis. :D

I could have had a nice e28 around the same time. The only reason I didn't take it was because it was an auto. The only thing it needed was a flex disc and my boss forced me to bring it to the crusher. Very sad. :-(

PM Franco90, he's bug in the 7 scene. His is newer, but he would know where to go for the best info.

I've passed on a lot of E28's because they were auto, it's a shame. I have a 5-speed '87 535i for a few months, it was fantastic. But it just needed too much work, so I ended up trading it towards my '87 325.

Thanks! I PM'ed him, not sure how active he is on this site though, looks like he's only made one post.

I've finally gotten around to taking some pictures of the 735i! It doesn't look that pretty, but mechanically, it's about 95% solid. Got it for $2000, which is a lot more than KBB, but I feel it was a fair price for all the work that was done on it. It purrs like a kitten, and is probably the smoothest car I've ever owned.

can't see photobucket at work, have to check it out when I'm at home. Love old 7s. If Franco doesn't reply here hit him up on r3v, he's more active there.

r3v isn't all bad, just lots of crap to sift through to get any good info, and not worth posting on most of the time.

Your 7 is begging for a satin black wrap!

I wasn't referring to r3v, I was referring to the (hopefully) unintentional mention of my bosses name. lol
