Yeah I was at RA for Octoberfest. My buddy Dave ran his M3 with Badger for the lapping but I didn't think mine would be ready in time. It was, but barely and by the time I knew it was too late to register. Highlight of that weekend was the M1 screaming around the track, never forget it. Did you stay at the Ostoff? We probably bumped into each other and didn't even know. Did you ever do the Badger show at Concours? I had my car in the showroom for a couple of those shows.

My car needs the rear tail panel replaced. The only way it would be a show car is if it was the only E30 M3 around.
I do have a friend with a really nice example in diamantschwartz, and another bud with a repainted salmon silver example.
Hopefully i'll get to the track with something next year.

Have any pictures of it? Sounds like it might be kinda like the 230,000+ mile E28 M5 I had for a month. It was far from mint condition, but ran strong, and was an absolute joy to drive. Show car though? Heck no, not even close, lol.

Yes sir, its me.

Since they were less than 300 a car back in the day, i bought everyone i found. The 3 recent ones were 600, 1 dollarr, and free so thats how i went from 1 to 3 in two weeks.

It took a while to find an e30 again. They have all but disappeared

I still find them quite a bit because of my job. I wish I had the money and storage space for all of them.

good to see you back on the forums, unless you still hung around e30tech until the end. I hadn't been there in a couple years. There are plenty of e30's on CL around here, but the market seems to only consist of $1000 parts cars and $5000 decent cars, or the rare $8000+ unmolested 'e'...I remember I bought my first '91 318i in mint condition for $1500...Heck, even my '90 325is was $3k and was immaculate. Kinda wish I hadn't turned it into a race car at this point...

Thats the prices around here, also. I know of a 500 dollar terrible 85 318 that i would hate to get and thats it for local e30s. If i want to go to san antonio or houston, i can get into the 2-5k daily drivers or 8-12k spotless 325e, too.

I would check e30tech every once in a while but i was building jeeps so i was more on jeepforums and jeepz. Then, i had to get into a different sport than running so i started cycling and had to learn as much as i could on the fly so i spent a lot of time in bikeforums and two-spoke. Now that i am easily able to do 100 mile bicycle rides, my doctor says i am ok to not worry about dying anytime soon (normal scare tactics to get people on medication and all kinds of testing).

So, my kids remember autocrossing and riding in the car seat with me and want e30s themselves, so here we are. I am glad because i sorely missed having a fun, dependable, good gas mileage car, jeeps get less then desireable gas mileage and cannot fit bikes in the back, easily. The ol thule rack from my e21 dropped right on the e30 so the bikes might fit. But for sure, the old recarros still fit and i have a momo signature edition steering wheel from an old e21 that will be sweet in the e30 with the right adapter.

nice! I was a jeep guy for a while. Took a 90 YJ through the Rockies on old logging trails for a few weeks back when I was younger. Been trying to get a chevelle back together for my wife so I can get the e30 back in the garage...My oldest loves the e30, can't wait to get him out on track with me.

I think I know well enough to not get into Jeeps. They are more lego like than E30s and the swaps/mods are 10x.

E30s are just so damn expensive now. And they are starting to really degrade. Makes me sad. I thought about returning mine to stock for my son down the line. But uh... it would take a lot of work. A LOT of work.

PS: we sound like old men now. Talking about our kids <_<

Yes, they are more ego and who can throw the most money into brand names.

I took my 87 yj from stock to 4.5 stroker to 5.0 v8 but once sone with that, what else can you do? You cannot autocross, you cannot have fun on road, and you sure cannot get good gas mileage so it was time to find something more inline with what i like. I had been looking, on the down low, for an e30 for a few years but their rare factor has multiplied a million times.

Anyways, i am a lot happier now

Yea finding a good E30 these days is so hard. Even E36s are getting hard all of a sudden. E46s? I'm starting to find those for $1k all day.

I know, I remember the reason I wanted to race the e30 was it was a cheap chassis to mod and at the time I was like 'eh, if I stuff it into a wall I'll just buy a shell to swap into'. Problem now is I know if I wreck the car, I'm done with e30's. Even clean rollers are more than I'd be willing to pay. For the same money you can get much better chassis to build from. Honestly, I've been thinking of stripping the livery and giving it a decent OE respray, and maybe going back to sport seats. Same as you though, it would be more work than it's worth to put it back to stock at this point. With the kids now, I'd probably get more use out of a nice 5 series.

Thats why i am glad these new cars are all stock. I know the rusty 86 two door is going to become an e30 pick up though. I need a truck and the 94 chevy truck makes me mad to drive because of the gas mileage. I can't stand 12 mpg to carry my bicycle around
