Find Rockauto closeout deals on all your cars

Postby Yoshi » Thu Sep 29, 2016 12:50 am

So someone on reddit posted E30 wholesale/closeout parts for rockauto. They seem to be the normal stuff like wiper blades and oil filters but hey, that stuff adds up! So anyway here's the general link:
http://www.rockauto.com/RSS/vehiclefeed ... &html=true

Note the address says "carcode". So I realized that I could just swap out the carcode with the appropriate car code.

For instance, my friend owns a 2001 chevy impala. So you go to the regular rockauto website, click chevy, 2001, v8 whatever. You'll see your address bar now looks like this:
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/che ... v6,1384084

The number after the comma is what you're after (1383084). Take that and replace the carcode in the first link, and you get:
http://www.rockauto.com/RSS/vehiclefeed ... &html=true

Congrats, you now see all the closeout wholesale parts for a 2001 chevy impala! Not repeat for all of the cars you own and enjoy! I managed to get a rear brake job (pads/rotors), crap ton of oil filters for lots of my cars, and air filters for lots of my cars all for $70 shipped!

Thanks for the links though. I wasn't trying to be an ass. Does this --> http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php ... _GIX__65__ <-- look like it'll work in an 86 325e with a manual? Without looking at my car I'm thinking the hose positions are reversed, but I can't remember. If that's the right one it's by far the best price I've found.

M20s have those hose orientations. The only issue is that it's an auto rad so there's plugs for the automatic trans. You can run the radiator and it'll cool your car just fine though. I ran a few manual swaps still with the auto radiator.

And yea, no commercial. Just want to let you guys know about cool deals just like you've done for me :)

Yeah, it's the wrong rad. After I posted that I looked at the one that I took out of my car and the hoses are in way different places, so I guess the one on sale is for late model. Upon closer inspection though I noticed that the manual rad is actually exactly the same as the auto, but instead of having fittings for the trans lines there are plastic plugs in the holes. I wonder why everyone I've gotten prices from sells the manual one for at least 20% more when it would actually be cheaper to make. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled infomercial. :-D

Ah man... I forget early models. I'm losing my E30 sharpness. I know late models have the cross over in front of the timing cover. I guess early models are both on the driver's side? I'm pretty sure both models have the top rad hose on the upper driver's side of the radiator.

I figure those plastic plugs just keep the coolant from coming out and hopefully the regular coolant is finding those passages. otherwise, wtf bmw?

Nah, early model has top hose on passenger side. Right where my radiators keep blowing out.

I guess I could disassemble one of my broken radiators to see what's behind the plugs. I'll post about it if I do.
