I'm not sure what the spring rates are but the front feels fine but the back needs to be stiffer
3LOW M3 wrote:did you have to modify (cut/weld/grind) anything to fit the d2's.
Nope

blownm20 (lack of actual name) Did you do the work on the ms yourself? I am interested cause it sounded so hot and must be working well for you. Lets hear more about your motor setup.

MegaSquirt is tuning program that allows you to control just about every aspect of your motor. I've never used it, but it sound like it can be a pita unless you've built som experience using it....

Megasquirt is an engine managment system. blownm3 has his rev limit set up very nicely and it sounds amazing. I will be running ms so I am wondering what the settings are.

I have a megasquirt for dummies writeup somewhere around here.
You can do a soft limiter and a hard limiter. I forget how I do mine. I think I cut fuel first then spark.

so if I build the MS myself what would fuel & spark cost me roughly?

The normal cost of the kit. Well depends on what you mean by spark. single coil is done with what they send you. if you want wasted spark or cops, you have to shell out $5 a coil driver.
honestly tho. pay the extra cash and save yourself the time/headache. diy does a great job and tests everything before it goes out. They did my COP setup and its been great. well when my car ran lol.

I bought my ms kit and built it myself and it took roughly 4-5hrs. I paid $250 for the kit, and it was pretty easy to solder up if you have experience. If I were to do it again I would buy it built because of the time. If you buy ms2v3 it is fuel and spark.

Re: My e30 and acouple other drifters
what does DIY charge for ms2v3 built set-ups? I'm wondering if it's worth the money to buy the PnP setups sold on other forums.

The pnp set ups are the way to go if they are guaranteed to work and the builder knows exactly how you want it set up.

Re: My e30 and acouple other drifters
when would it be a good time to add a MS? can a stock motor benefit? i take it these are not made specificly for the e30...someone feel free to make a DIY MS thread.

It eliminates the M20s barn door, so yes, stock motor will benefit somewhat but not much. You could probably tune it to run 93 octane so that will maybe give you couple hp. Adding spark & fuel ms however opens up a lot of potential because now you're actually running a tunable ECU unlike the Motronic.

To me, a car with an automatic transmission seemed like a toy for grown-ups. All you have to do is steer? Where's the fun in that?
