Time to Infultrate the Drift Indy world

Postby asuj158 » Mon May 18, 2009 10:58 pm

Well I think its time for me to get into the drifting world in indianapolis. Its all japanese imports an I think I should give them a taste of german engineering. My Car: 89 325i turbo on 18psi, has bilstein sport shocks and hr sport springs. new control arms, tie rods, and powerflex CABs. What else do you guys think I should do to get my car ready? Im thinking sways. Anything you guys can recomend that woud be great. Also Im new to the drifting world (I can drift that great yet) but Im hoping with some practice I can get good and give some ricers a run for their money. Most of the drifters are using 240s though so its gona be tough, but im up for a challenge. Nice to meet you all by the way.

Welcome dude! :) I am sure that most people will say that you must practice, practice practice! :) Then once you reach your limit you start tweaking the setup and stuff.

you have an LSD?

the sport suspension won't work well. youre going to want coils eventually. Just get out there and learn. I've been in it for 5 years now and I still suck balls (past 2 years have been building my car, sorta).

Also a bucket seat helps a ton.

with your power, the race springs won't help you a huge amount. They will work if you can get them for cheap but eh.

I'd go GC or cosmo. I really don't think it matters which. I have cosmos.

you need to get different shocks but they work fine. I have the koni yellow adjustable shocks.

You definitely need to address the steering. Upgrade to a shorter ratio rack (like E36) and add some steering angle via rack spacers. Get a good stiff suspension and figure out a tire setup that will put all that turbo power down.

Oh, and seat time. As much as possible.
