The CHEAP aero thread

Postby madmaverick » Tue Oct 27, 2009 1:50 am

I want to make a list of cheap aero for drift cars. I havent seen many low pricetag kits that actually look decent. This should also include replicas and knockoffs (which are scarse to my knowledge).

Copy and paste the following:

Kit name:
Company Website:
Fitment:
Pictures:

I recently left my shop on disability. When I recover I want to try my hand at fabricating some good fitting knockoffs. Currently I am planning on replicating the mtechII, the BBS valence in my sig, and a couple others. Suggestions/requests are appreciated.

Since the design of the front aprons are so simple, I am confident that after some practice I will be able to create some one off peices as well.

Does anybody know existing companies that make replica versions of these bumpers? If so, please direct me to their website.

What are the websites with the best prices for BMW aero?

There really isn't anything out there... Hence me making my own stuff. I don't really know where you can get some.

I found a few knockoff guys on ebay. Can anybody attest to the fitment of the ebay kits?

Theres euro stop or whatever on e30tech and I hear his stuff fits like ass. Never heard of anyone trying the ebay stuff tho.

yeah, eurostop is really the only one making reps of e30 kits and I guess his kits require extensive modification to fit properly. You should make a late model front valance with an 'is' lip molded in as one piece with a nice big opening for an IC instead of the two slots.

I have been brainstorming for a few days and this was one of my plans. Use some of the old designs as a template for a modern version. Maybe even throw in some functional ducting for ICs and whatnot. My main focus will be on fitment and quality at an affordable price.

I just ordered some educational materials and got in contact with a friend of mine who does fiberglass boats. Once I get underway, I will be looking to borrow aero for mock-up. Those who volunteer will receive a free bumper or large discount. Once I figure out the manufacturing costs I will be more exact.

EDIT: Just noticed I kinda drug this one out of the grave from like a year ago....
I would be up for cheap bumper that gives an IC good flow, doesn't look like e46 replica, and isn't a pain to have fit. I've been trying to figure out which bumper(most likely cut) would give me good flow yet when it gets ripped off (which it will in the motor sport community) I can have another readily available at a decent price.
I would donate my valence and pfeba lip but tbh I dont really like the set up how is.

The BMP e46 bumper looks to provide the best flow, but I agree it looks like poo. Other option is to go at the stocker with a saw and open up some "speed holes". :)
