I believe quite an assortment. 85% sure there will be an AR-15, since his dad has picked up like 3 in the last year.

I've wanted a Mauser 98k or a Mosin for a while (I was a big WWII buff when I was younger), and going to a gun show recently made that pull stronger. The Mauser seems nicer, but the Mosin looks like great first, aside from the slightly uncommon ammo. Unfortunately with my mom it's a no-go until I'm out on my own.

Ahhh I understand about the mom. Mine was the same. I never even had a bb gun lol. Got out after I got married and now I have all these haha. I love the old military surplus rifles. The mauser is slightly more tight and refined than the mosin but I wouldn't say either is better.

They both did what they were supposed too. The mosin is more crude and loose. But it was designed that way to ensure reliability in the russian environment. I love my mosins. Very affordable and ammo is cheap. They have gone up a tad but its still the best priced full power centerfire rifle and cartridge. Rifle range from about 130-150 and up for the refurbs and way higher for the more tuned finn rifles. Ammo runs around 90-110 for 440rnds. I can find the ammo locally pretty easily.

Ar15's are fun. Easy to use and shoot, little to no recoil, and accurate.

Yep. I will be upset again lol. Still no hunting partner. Maybe this year I can get in the woods. It sucks sitting by and missing the season because you have no one to go with. :(

Well I have zero experience. And being out on public hunting grounds alone doesn't thrill me. I think for me it would be best to be with someone for the first couple outings at least to kinda learn the ropes. If it is private lands I wouldn't be as concerned. But with so many other hunters in the same forest with itchy trigger fingers having a hunting partner would be good I think.

I think I could learn faster with someone teaching me. Problem is I have no family that hunts anymore. Except my uncle who moved out of state. My dad might get back out there with me though. My interest in it has made him interested as well. It would be nice to spend time with him in the woods.

Interesting thing is my family had a lot of guns. My mom owns quite a few still including a old Swedish Sniper rifle that was my great grandfathers but alas I have none here and shooting for fun isn't something the Germans condone. Here's to hoping you can get a hunting partner! -yuush-

I can't wait to get it out to the range. I've heard they make quite the fireball :)

Chinese type 53 carbine. Made in 1954. Basically a copy of the russian m44. The longer mosin nagants in my previous pics are the m91-30. This shoots the same cartridge, has a shorter carbine length barrel, and a permanently attached bayonet. Very neat rifle.

The chinese rifles are pretty beat as you can see in the pics.
They haven't been refurbished like the other russian mosins I have. These were used in a few wars. Vietnam and I think Korea. Maybe a few others.

Before I cleaned it up it was ooey and gooey with grease. But it cleaned up nicely and has a good bore. Not too bad for $150.

They look worse in person. The wood looks like it was made from plywood lol. Would be nice to refinish the wood to look a bit better. Maybe a future project. I would like to install a muzzle brake too. Thats not too hard though.
