What became of this? How are thinks coming along a year later? I've been playing since I was 14-15 (21 now). I used to play A LOT, but then "life" (cars, videogames, girls) got in the way. I recently found out some friends play (and others want to learn), so I've been playing a lot more again.

Just picked up an acoustic yesterday, actually.

I still have em and still mess around with them every now and then. I've been a little scared to pull them out with my chew crazy puppy haha. I still suck at playing though. I guess I get frustrated to easily. But i would still like to learn better. I had some friends to play with that was helping, but they have turnes out to be less than good friends. So I'm stuck trying to teach and play by myself.

Oh and I guess I never updated which amp I got. I have the fender mustang. Its pretty nice for 100 bucks. Tons of setting to play with on the pc software that comes with it.

Yeah, having people to play with helps a lot with the motivation. I got stuck in the same rut a couple of months ago like "what's the point in practicing if I'm not playing with anyone?" I think part of the problem was I started playing because I liked music and wanted to be cool, which was absolutely the WRONG reason. I spent hours and hours woodshedding trying to overcome walls in my ability before I was ready. I wound up very self-critical and shy about my playing.

6 or so years later, I'm getting satisfied with my playing, but I'm still not cool. That's what the turbo e30 is for, right? :D

Sounds almost exactly what I've been battling. I hate how I sound when I tinker with it. And I haven't seen much improvement. Even though others say otherwise. I don't know why I originally wanted to learn to play. Just thought it would be fun I guess. Took a year of lessons like 10 years ago lol. Thats how I got my acoustic. Didn't really play it much so its still like new. Then when I bumped into these friends they kinda motivated me to give it another go. Also the electric. On the previous page. Have had a good time with it. But i don't think I've played in a couple months. Even when I do, i never really consider it practicing or playing. I just see it as messing around lol.

Don't worry. I've never been one of the cool crowd either. Always have battled to find good friends. Still am today and I'm 25 and married. I don't really bother with it much anymore. I just go my own way. Be a trend setter, not a follower :)

By that Tony means that he thinks of cheese as a weapon.

I wanted and still want to play the drums, asked for a set in high school and got a 50 dollar guitar and amp that my parents thought I'd like. I taught myself scales and some other little things because my mom really thought I'd like it. I ended up putting it away and selling it to a kid for 50 bucks, made his day and made me feel better about it, I get too attached to things Lol!

That guitars finish is absolutely gorgeous. You should share a video with us, I don't think any judgement will come of it and I'd like to see what people like to do in their free time : )

Oh, and I was so uncool that the nerdy kids picked on me :P Now I have a wife and people respect me for my running, helpfulness and knowledge base (mostly cars and other random things). No worries though, I still find people to be terrible and I like to avoid them at most costs. I do enjoy this forum for what its worth though :D

Haha I'm far too self conscious to post a video right now. When I tinker with it I don't really play anything in particular. Just mess around. And believe me its not so pleasant on the ears lol.

Hmm my spare time is cars and guns primarily. With a dash of guitar in there. But the hound dog has been demanding much of it here lately. We are trying to train her a bit now and taking her to some classes.

Here are some updated pics

FYI, you Don't need to be good at guitar to be cool, look at Nickleback.

Don't let her cuteness fool you. She is a crazy little thing and quite a handfull haha. But she is still pup too. She is a funny hound.

She definately is that. We started her in a six week class last sunday afternoon. She gets to be around other dogs, people, and hopefully learn something haha. So far so good, she has picked up pretty quickly to do what we want if she wants the treat haha. She is even doing some of it without a treat. She is still crazy, biting, and jumping. But she is still a puppy at only 6 months old. It does look like she has gotten a little better though. That has me excited lol.

How did this get missed?!? This is awesome!

I've messed around with bass like this for going on 20 years. I'm good enough to follow chord progression but that's about it. If you lucky I'll be able to fill a little space between phrases. It's more social than anything else. Sitting around with my brothers and a beer or two.
