Welp, just bought a laptop and played the game for a few hours haha. Pretty fun, but I just kinda wish there was more to it. Can you build engines bigger than just a v8? I bought the $35 dollar version. So far I have a 2000+ hp v8 (10.9L twin turbo), a I6 that's as close to my e30's setup as I can get, and a bunch of different cars. Wish there were more body styles to choose from as well.

Woohoo!! It is fun, lol. There will be more to it, and you will be able to build engines bigger than the V8. I think they are confirmed to be adding V10, V12, and V16 before release. I remember when the only engine layouts available were I4 and V8, w/o any boost, and the car designer was a distant goal to be started on after turbo's were added, lol. The final game will be a complete car manufacturing simulation, taking you through start-up, design of your cars, marketing, sales, the whole she-bang. For some reason, I'm fascinated with micro-engines in this game, and for my next car I'll likely try to utilize something pretty small. This is my favorite one so far, a 0.8L twin-turbo V8 producing 335HP. :D Too bad it'll only do it long enough to get down a drag strip though.

But back to Automation Game, remember Detroit? Sure you don't, lol. It's a 20 year old game I found years and years after its release. It has archaic graphics and sound. The interface is fat and blocky. The max resolution is probably 320x200, and the only way to play it nowdays is on DosBox. Till this day, Detroit has been hands down the best car manufacturer simulator ever made. Automation will finally trump it in every way conceivable. Detroit is still worth a look though if you have time to burn. And since it's now abandonware, it can legally be obtained for free.

So it's not exactly a micro-engine, but I've built the Kard K-200... an AWD hot hatch with a 1.5L naturally aspirated I6 producing 200HP. Not bad for such a tiny engine. :)

Yeah I've been moving around making all sorts of different engines. Made an economy engine that's 1.5L 4cyl that's turbocharged, low octane, and makes 150hp. I'm looking forward to more options for bodies. Its almost all hatchbacks.

Speaking of economy... how about a sporty 279 HP car that gets 35 MPG? :D

lol, I just checked out all of your designs on that forum and this is the only one that I didn't like anything about. The rest of them are really cool. I want a BMW Golf! :-D

Glad you liked most of them! What didn't you like about this one? The styling, or the focus on efficiency? What would make you want it? Just curious... the game will feature a business emulation eventually, wanna make sure I can sell my cars. ;)

Personally... I'm not entirely happy with the styling, but had fun making a nearly 300HP 165 MPH car that got 35 MPG. :)

I think my next car is gonna be a 4-door BMW Golf. :D

The styling IMO is ass. No offense. It just looks like a Hyundai that was trying to be a Honda Accord, Infiniti G35, Mercedes, and BMW all at the same time, but failed at all of them.

Well, I dunno about ass... but that's ok, lol. I definitely agree the next version needs a better look to it.

Speaking of next versions, here's the new 2-series, the 4-door BMW Golf. Kind of... lol.

Man if I ever had any free time I would LOVE to play with this thing. Someone buy me a winning Mega Millions ticket so I can retire.
