pCars - California, Azure Coast & Nurburgring in an E30 M3

Back in September I posted a video of the M3 on this same track, with a much worse tune than the current one. Fired the game up last night, and I was blown away by the improvements made to the car! My last cruise down this road was a serious chore to make a clean run, I can't tell you how many hours and hours it took me over those 2 days to get it right. This time around was quite enjoyable. The car still bounces around a lot in some places, but this is due to me using the default suspension tuning, not the car being caddywhompus.

In addition to a much improved E30 chassis, the California Highway looks much better now! The game runs great too, it was a solid 30fps (max possible while recording with FRAPS), with everything maxxed out except for anti-aliasing. I probably could have turned that up as well but never did.

This game is really optimized for a driving wheel, but I'm still using an X360 controller. It's as adequate as a controller could be in such a realistic simulator.

For those of you that don't know, Project Cars is still in development and this is not entirely representative of the finished product. It keeps getting better. :)
Bad news is, they are no longer accepting money for "Tool Packs" as they called them, which allowed you early access to the game. :(

Here's another video. Same road, same car, but entirely from the drivers perspective, and full 1080p clear resolution. Sadly, the program I use to create the above video degrades the quality a bit.

I didn't realize this, but the crazy thing is it's still pre-alpha. For such an early stage of development, it's really amazing. I think they're shooting for a Q4 2014 release though.

I'm currently playing with an X360 controller. It's adequate for cruising around and having fun, but it's not very competitive if you wanna try running competitive laps. I really want a Logitech G25 or G27, but I also have a PS4 and want to make sure it will be compatible at least with GT6/7 and Drive Club, but info on the internet regarding that is muddled. For very "Yes, it will work" there's two comments that either say it won't work, or isn't confirmed to work.

If I can find one used for about $150 I'll jump on it, but currently even the used ones don't sell for much less than a new one would. If I can get positive confirmation that they'll work on the PS4 I'll buy it new, otherwise I'll have to get a deal on it.

Then again, as I was typing this post, I realized that if I buy one new, and it doesn't work on the PS4, I could probably sell it for not much less than I paid for it. Hmm... might be worth the $40 loss to play with it for 6-12 months and sell it for whatever is compatible with the PS4 later.

Only problem with that strategy is if they don't work on the PS4, and then start depreciating because of it.

Finally got my Nurburgring video's up! I gave up on trying to make a picture in picture version... the software just wasn't cooperating with me. It was a fun ride! I turned the time advance all the way up, and made the weather transition from rain to fog, to get some variety into it. Here they are:

That's pretty freakin' sweet, loving the monowiper haha. What's up with the gauge cluster? Is that how the DTM cars looked?

I've never seen the inside of a DTM car... but my best guess is that Slightly Mad Studio's is using a bit of artistic license, since it is a race car, and could feasably have had the gauge cluster swapped out.

Is there a reason to have 1 sideways?
Schwarz 5-speed 87 325is (newest project)
Arktisblau 5-speed 86 325e (current DD)
Schwarz 5-speed 87 325e (parts car/LS1 swap?)

Alpine white 5-speed 87 325is (my first e30, possibly for sale)

I'm guessing the RPM's are sideways because the car is designed to keep the RPM's high.
