Glad all is right in the world again, lol. Luckily I jumped on a good (but not as good) deal on a G27 when it presented itself, so I've had one for about a month now, love it.

Glad I didn't send the guy money for one. I've been so busy I probably wouldn't have even noticed never getting it and would have lost out on even getting a refund.

How do you like the G27? I'd really like to get a racing wheel, but I'm not sure if I can justify the price over something like the grand-turismo branded wheel, since they're so cheap. Obviously, I've heard the G27 is much better, but do you know in what ways? I don't really care about the shifter. I'm mostly concerned about the wheel/pedal feedback, and I think I read somewhere they both use the same motor for feedback...

Feels pretty realistic on my G27. Shifter feels like dick though.

Hmm... I'd like to get one, I haven't been playing the new Forza too much, and every time I do get on it, I find myself wishing I was playing a game with a racing wheel instead. Obviously, the G25/27 isn't Compatible with the XBone, but it would open the door to Assetto Corsa, Gran Turismo, or (eventually) Project CARS.

I absolutely love my G27. It makes everything feel so much better. I did get the G27 primarily for the clutch and shifter though, and it's true that the shifter ain't that great, but I can't imagine a plastic shifter being much better. I have heard that the new Force Pro is basically a G27 minus shifter and clutch, but I haven't seen one in person. I got mine used for $180, so not terribly bad.

As for Assetto Corsa, I'd recommend passing on it. Ironically, the E30 M3 is about the only car in the game that doesn't understeer like a pig. I got AC for the Ferrari's, and they're some of the worse understeering cars in the game. It's moronically unrealistic, and I have no idea why they haven't fixed it this late in the game. The game version I last played was v0.9.13. That's getting dangerously close to retail release to still have a fatal flaw in the handling of most cars. If you like spending hours dialing out understeer... I hear it can be done, but I would rather start with a suspension tune that's at least as good as a stock car would be. Also, setting up the G27 to work in 900° is way harder than it should be.

Project CARS is fantastic, in comparison. But it still needs a good bit of work. It's being updated every single day of the work week, but might miss the deadline by a bit. That's not something I read on the forums... just my personal opinion. I have a group of 2 other people I semi-regularly play pCARS with online, that makes it a lot more fun. If anyone else gets the game lemme know and lets see if we can get a full race going on. :D

I literally just started a Steam group for racing:

I'd like to get in on project cars - it's the only game I'd be willing to let break my abstinence from early-access, but it's too late to get into it, right?

I'll check out the Force Pro. Like I said, I'm not too concerned with having a traditional clutch/shifter layout, as long as the wheel has paddle shifters.

That's disappointing about AC - Forza likes to over-accentuate understeer for mid-engined cars as well, but I've noticed some overall bias in that game...

Darn, any other recommendations? I picked up a Driving Force Pro off craigslist for $30. It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

I downloaded the rFactor 2 demo. I suck, but I still had a lot of fun, but I'm not sure I want to buy into such an old game with a likely dead playerbase.

GT Legends is an old, but great game if you like the idea of driving classic cars on bias ply tires. I'm not very good at it... even with a wheel. WRC 4 FIA Rally is pretty fun if you're into that kind of racing. Raceroom seemed decent, for a free to play model. Not many cars come with it, though there are many to buy. I haven't bothered to try it with my G27 yet.

I've heard Race 07 is pretty good, but I haven't tried it myself. I usually focused most of my racing games on consoles... so I'm really not very in tune with the best of PC racers over the years. If you still have a PS3 I heat GT6 is a lot better than GT5... but personally GT5 really turned me off to the series.

May I ask what is so bad about 5? That game is the only reason I have ever considered buying a Playstation 3, and don't want to be disappointed if I ever do decide to buy one.

GT5 was a ginormous disappointment to me. It took a million years to be released, the large majority of the cars were only PS2 graphics quality, my '71 Hemi Challenger sounded like a hopped up Honda Civic, the computer drivers were recklessly aggressive, and the PS3 controller wasn't a very good controller for racing games. I didn't have a wheel then... but I don't think having one would have changed my opinion.

My PS3 YLOD'ed almost right after I got my PS4, so I won't be trying out GT6, but I felt so burned by GT5 that even when I did have my PS3 I couldn't bring myself to try it out.

Oh yeah, and GT5 has an absurd amount of completely undesirable Japanese cars. They spent so much time modeling 100 variations of the damn Yaris and Prius that they forgot to include even a single E30. Seriously, why did we need a Prius as one of the precious few high resolution cars in the game??

Yeah... I guess it's still a sore spot for me.
