Favorite non-e30 vehicles

Postby 87e30 » Thu Feb 19, 2015 12:25 am

Don't remember seeing a similar thread so I thought I'd start one. What are you guys favorite cars that are not e30's? Pics if you got em, eh?

I have a very long list myself, but if for some reason every e30 on the planet flew away some day, I think I would try to get a Lada Riva. It's very e30ish in a lot of ways, and I'm sure they're not very expensive. Saw one for sale online for $1300 that looked really decent.

I've always wanted to do a Factory 5 Cobra build. I still think about selling the e30 to help fund one.

Another I've always loved. Any 308 really.

Well I wasn't really talking about exotic cars when I started the thread. I meant more budget cars that you could find for around the same price or less than an e30. Of course I'd love to have a DeLorean, and a Tucker, and a flat black 80's Lotus Esprit Turbo, but all those cars cost as much as 10 or more e30's.

BTW that 308 was one of my favorite matchbox/hot wheels cars when I was a kid. lol

I have always liked the Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205 and almost bought it over my current E30.

Ooh that's a sexy ass Datsun! I would trade one of my e30's for that.

We had one of those Celica's at our shop a couple years ago. Ended up selling it for like $1200 or something to some girl who only wanted it to learn how to drive a stick because she blew the clutch on her brand new BMW in less than a week. I almost bought it myself to use as a spare vehicle. Not a fan of the roundness of it, but the one we had had a body kit on it that made it look a little nicer. The exhaust sounded amazing too.

My Dad had a 240z when I was growing up, awesome car. If I ever parted with the e30 it would be a serious contender for a replacement. I never cared for the looks of those Celicas, but they are tanks. My Wife's friend had one and literally NEVER changed the oil in like 200k miles, just kept adding a quart here and there. Can't imagine what the inside of that engine looked like, but the damn thing never died, was still running/driving when she sold it.

I first learned how to drive stick in an old Datsun. Don't remember which model it was. Was my friends moms car. I practiced driving it around his huge back yard. Was not a sporty Datsun whatsoever. May have been an early 80's 200SX or something.

We had an anniversary edition 240z here for a few years. Sold it last year, not sure how much my boss got for it. Was a barn find 1 owner vehicle, but the head gasket was blown and the body had seen MUCH better days.

That reminds me. I think I need to add oil to my car. Saw the warning light flicker this morning on my way to work.

I do like the genuine wrxs. The states only got the 2.5RS which was NA. Still a great car. Not turbo :(

Subaru's are taking over in my area. Everyone has a wagon though, no sedans. What's the deal with people putting 3 HUGE mudflaps in one very bright color and the 4th a different bright color?

Most imprezas here are turbo as there all so cheap, I like mine it's great fun.

No idea on the mudflaps though, a few years ago everyone went for big blue ones over here

Here it's usually 3 bright red and 1 bright green or the opposite. Most of them here are turbo too, but those could all be aftermarket. There's a Subaru custom shop 1 town over from my job that does a LOT of work in the area. Anyway, turbo or not, mudflaps or not, they're usually a lot more expensive than an e30. :-P
