ok fellas, here are the pics. A lot of them seemed really washed out, I had to play with the contrast to get them to look decent. Don't know what I did wrong, maybe a wrong setting on the camera or something.

I really want to get a lens that can get in tighter, seems like everything I shoot is really small or far away, lol.

I ran out of film so I got some shots of the boats with the cell.










this is my buddies 650HP race boat, does 106 in the 1/8 mile, he's giving me a ride at next weeks races.

Not bad at all! The motor to boat size ratio is crazy!!! Its a miracle that boats even float!! LOL

they barely do, most of the racers have to bail water while they sit and wait for the race to start.

Now that's what i call racing! LOL!

That is insane, do they crash a lot? If so are there many of those motors at the bottom of the lake? I think I need a motor swap. <.<

I HATE June bugs! is that what that thing is?

I've never seen a crash at Blarneys, but I have heard stories from the racers about crashes at other races. I think they look vintage because I had to turn the contrast up so high to keep them from looking so washed out. I think that bug is Emerald Ash Boring Beetle.

oh ya june bugs are the brown ones, I call those japanese beetles. That must be the real name of them though. I don't know to much about bugs other than I hate them.

How many people usually show up for those boat races?

There's usually around 20 boats divided into 2 classes, and maybe around a thousand spectators.

Looks like alot of fun though! I'll have to come down there to watch those sometime!

I like how when we are armed with the nicest cameras money can buy (the canon EOS30D I rented at oshkosh ) we take pictures of engines lol
