at least the one I'm working on right now. Alternator needs replacing, easy right? Should take about 30 min tops, so why am I going on 3 hours? Because when the alternator failed it seized completely it bent the pivot bolt on the bottom inside the bolt sleeve of the alternator. I've been hitting that damn thing with an air chisel and pounding on the end to no avail, now I'm waiting on a second set of hands to hold the 4' bar I have against the bolt end while I beat it like a bad stepchild, hopefully that persuades it out...

You just don't know what your doing....

I am just kidding. How long was it running with it seized??? I can't believe it bent the bolt! I had a seized alternator (my own fault for that.... ) and when we started it, sure there was alot of squealling, but the bolt came right out.


I feel your pain though....try working on the suspension...

lol, simply jobs. Ya sometimes simple just isn't simple.

Last oil change I did (more or less helped with when the person working on it got pissed and left it as is.) involved oil filter strap wrench, pry bar, hammer and vice grips. Wasn't just a fast job either. Good luck!

When the alternator seized the belt was tight enough to stop the engine dead in it's tracks, that, I think, is the moment the bolt bent.

HOLY CRAP! That's insane! That belt had to be like a fricken rubber band!

yeah the belt was shot too. Finally got it out with the help of a sawzall and cutting disk. Runs like a top now.

nah, it was safe and I was protected. Got started on my truck early today, upgraded the rear brakes to 1 ton units and had the drums turned. Tomorrow I need to lay some fiberglass on my boat hull to repair some damage, then it's fishin' time.

I fish year round as much s possible, which has been a lot since I got laid off, lol. I live on the Fox Chain O Lakes so we have everything in here, bass (large and smallies) catfish, Gar, Muskie, Pike, all sorts of pan fish, walleye, strippers, ect.

Wife pulled this out at our private boat launch couple days ago.


I had one 6" longer than that up to the side of the dock but the guy working the net knocked it off.

Last winter someone in my neighborhood pulled a 54" Musky through the ice, still trying to get me one of those.
