That would be an interesting swap. But I guess its no different that retrofitting a different seat into an e30.

IMO waste of money. Don't skimp on safety equipment.

You may be right, just looking for an actual hands on review.

You can get this guy down to $300. Yes they are "fake" but look pretty decent nonetheless:

More foolproof than the fold down for sure. I have had my chinese folding type for 5 years and the drivers side just recently broke. I really cant complain though, lots of use on them.

Hmm, that is a decent deal for some nice looking seats. I'll shoot him an offer and see what happens.

BTW I would stay away from any chinese folders. While I am please with the seats, the upholstery is nice etc. The thing is the back is not really as rigid as I (and you) would like.

So unless the fiberglass bucket itself sucks these are actually a safe bet. But its kinda a gamble like usual with their shit. Do It, i want to see how they are!

All these "race style" seats come from same factory in china. Kpeng did a review on them on e30 tech.

Cliffs:
-mounts have to be massaged as they dont really fit
-seats are comfy, but heavy as fuck
-ok for street car maybe, or truck, not ok for track.

Does that include the fixed seats posted above, or just the folders?

The ones I have are pretty light, must be half what the stock ones weigh. I wonder which ones he tried.

For what is is worth the Hyundai seats in my 325is are much lighter than the sport seats and they provide really good support for hard cornering. Oh and they are extremely solid.
