I need some CHEAP 16x8 wheels

Postby M20_fever » Tue Nov 29, 2011 2:42 pm

did I mention CHEAP?? I just need a set of 16x8 4x100 preferably with et27, or direct e30 fitment so I don't need more spacers. I just need something to put my TR1s on for a wet weather set now that I have the shaved Star Specs.

I really would like to stay under $250 for the set, looks mean almost nothing as long as they clear my rx7 kit.

Haha that is a very tall order! 16" doesn't give you much for wheel selection at all, espicially if you want really cheap and still fairly light. I thought TRM made a 16x8 C1, but I'm not seeing them on Tire Rack.

Stupid question, but why not a set of 15's for wet weather? You can get a brand new set of C1's for less than $400, and tires are cheap. Not quite as cheap as just getting a set of 16's, but imo may be easier in the long run when it comes time for new tires, etc.

reading is your friend, lol. ;) I already have tires, and I need 16s to clear the rx7 calipers. weight doesn't really matter since these will be a wet weather setup.

I understand that. Just saying that 16" is an odd size both for wheels that fit E30's and tires. 15" gives you a much wider selection of both. But I suppose for a wet weather setup you won't have to worry about replacing tires for quite a while.

no they wont get much use, and I'm locked into 16s due to the rx kit anyway. I can't even go up to 17s because it will cost points and bump me a class.

I've seen a few guys run 15s with the rx7 brake swap. Just have to be extra choosy because not all fit.

Ahh ok. I wasn't aware how much the RX7 brake kit limits your wheel fitment.

Here is a site that sells swap parts. But they also have this small list of wheels people have used with the swap. There are a few 15 in wheel choices on the list.

interesting site but I would be hesitant to buy any 15" and not plan to run spacers, which I don't want to do unless it uses the same spacer setup I already have.

Yeah it can be done with the 15s but for your case I would stay with the 16s. 16 in tires aren't that bad of prices or that hard to find. Alot of factory vehicles use them. 16s look better and since you already have tires I would stick to the plan. Hit up craigslist, the e30 forums, and even the vw forums. Sometimes you can find good stuff on ebay but not that often. I'll keep my eyes open for ya.

look for a used set of XXrs. Sort of light, sort of cheap, should clear. There are et25 which is the same as my Rota so they should fit just fine.

I'll keep an eye out. my current wheels are et27 so et25 should be fine.
