Postby M20_fever » Mon Mar 12, 2012 2:32 am

For those of you that have the pleasure of running at Black Hawk Farms Raceway, you may be interested to see some of the improvements and repairs they have been working on in the off season.

All photos taken by Nick at RedlinePhoto.com, he takes most of the racing photos I post here. redlinephoto.com

I'm looking forward to seeing it all finished up this spring, and even more excited to race on the improved track!

That strip they paved along the racing line through one (or multiple?) corners looks interesting. How do you think it will feel with the difference in surfaces(and grip)?

only time will tell, but similar repairs at Autobahn showed slightly less grip. It will definitely take some getting used to, but considering how rough it was through the apex in turn one it has to be faster now. Even with the H&Rs I would bounce sideways a bit going through there, now with the J stocks I have a feeling I'll be glad they patched it.

I wonder how that strip will affect drivers.

Also, I'm happy to see a racing tack doing well enough financially to be able to do this.

It's an unknown right now, but I have to guess it will be faster than before. Turn was was rough before, it desperately needed this. The racing line through that turn would only put half the car on the new surface, so it should be pretty good. I'll report back as soon as I get to run on it!

I am very happy to see them dumping money into the track.

Yeah, we'll see how that patch settles. I really hope it doesn't end up lower than the old racing surface.

I haven't been there for a couple of years.
Looks like we'll have to relearn the track.
They have added more asphalt for the early apexers on T7 so it will be faster.
With the asphalt patches in the corners, I think there will be more spins in the wet until we figure out the timing and placement of the car for a good fast turn in with good safe rotation of the car.
I need to have a car ready this year aarrrghh!

I know, im anxious to see what the track feels like. Its going to be a fresh start for me with the new racing surface combined with mt new tire and suspension setup. What club do you run with 7pilot?

With the exception of the last couple of years.
I used to run Midwest council autoX at BFR with a 7 clone and front drive VWs. I was Cstock champ for one year in the early mid 90's 93 or94 maybe with a Corrado SLC.
I am mostly with the Badger Bimmers since switching to BMW chassis and use the 7 clone with the Lotus club since BMWCCA won't allow Open Top machines.
If I get my act together, I'm looking to include NASA HPDE.( 7 clone and/or E30 M3)

My problem is too many automotive projects...too many BMWs needing everything.
Constant tinkering takes away resources for track attendance :|

Pics of the 7 clone? CS and CP are turning into pretty competitive classes. Do you have a roll bar? Love to see you come back and run with MC. I was part of Badger Bimmers, but let my membership lapse. I really only attended the show and shine at Concourse BMW, and Oktoberfest when it was here. You can't beat the price for competitive track time with MC.

bet that roadster is a blast. Is that a full cage in the M3 or a roll bar?
