Wasn't some e30 guy running some massively wide tires before? Like 300+?

315's. 275 15's, and 275/285 17's/18's have been done before as well.

Yeah, I dunno, that car was boosted, but IIRC each wheel/tire combo was like 60-70lbs...

So Sunday proved to be a bit of an eye opener for me. Did an event with Detroit Region SCCA at the Silverdome (which isn't a dome anymore...). It's by far the largest event I have run at myself, over 140 drivers. And a lot of them are very fast, national level drivers. Course ended up being a lot of fun. Open, pretty quick, flowed very well, and worked perfectly for how my car is geared. It was low to mid 80's all day, very sunny, but I enjoyed it.

I ran in the first of 3 heats, we had 5 or 6 drivers in G-Stock. One of them was the runner-up at Nationals last year, but he ran in the 'Pro' class they have for the crazy fast guys. I was looking forward to seeing how I would stack up against him. Also running was the guy that beat me (actually spanked is a better term) a couple weeks ago, and I was hoping with a more open course it would be a much closer rematch.

And it was. He beat me by 2.6 seconds last time, this time I narrowed that gap down to 1.02 seconds. I was pretty happy with that to be honest. But that 'pro' guy? His first run was almost 3 seconds faster than my best... yikes. I ended up 52 overall on PAX out of 143. So a very humbling event for me, to say the least.

So here's my best run of the day, I was happy with the time at that point in time, but looking at it now I was definitely sloppy and losing time in some places.

For comparison, here's the overall PAX winners run, car is a RTRCS (street tire stock car) BRZ:
