Yeah, it definitely was not very smooth there. Didn't bother my soft as hell suspension much, but it did a lot of other cars. And that Camaro is extremely stiff, he said that most roads are just about unbearable now.

Yeah that was by far the most fun part of the course, and all it took was a little lift to make it through, I may have been able to go flat with just the right line.

So this weekend was the first and second event for the local group I run a lot of events with. They ran it as 2 seperate events, but we ran the same course both days. This also happens to be the first event I ever did with Sabine a year ago. And looking back on that, man I have crammed quite a few events into that years time, and Sabine has changed quite a bit since then as well.

One year ago:

Anyway, same as last year, that lot is covered in gravel. We swept/blew as much of it off as we could, but it was still nasty. There were berms of dirt just off of the racing line by the end of the first day. So staying tidy and not getting into the dirt was very important. Course itself was pretty fun, flowed pretty well for such a tight lot. On Saturday I did alright, but I wasn't particularly happy with my driving. I knew I left some time out there, and got beat by a GTI in my class. My best clean run was a 44.5, his best was a 44.1, but he was in the 43's with cones. Car was handling pretty well, tires were right about where I wanted them with pressures and temps. In all I had a good time, was great seeing a bunch of familar faces again, I was just a bit disappointed in myself. Ended up 2nd in class, 20/55 in raw time, and 9th overall on PAX.

Fast forward to Sunday. Exact same weather (mid 70's, partly cloudy most of the day) and the course is a bit cleaner with more cars having run it after I ran yesterday. I knew the course, car was doing what I wanted it to, I just needed to focus on driving better. First run, with a passenger, was a 44.0, 4/10ths faster than anything I had done the day before. Next couple runs were pretty similar, just trying a couple different things to see how the car would react. 5th run it all came together, I pulled a 43.4. I was very happy with that, knowing it was a solid time. The guy that beat me yesterday was back again, and I watched his last run, 43.7. At that point I was pretty sure I had the class won, so I was free to really just lay it all out on my last run and see what would happen. Ended up with a 43.2, no cones. I was stoked! At the end of the day, the results were in:

1st in class
12/49 in raw time

And...
3rd on PAX. Which had me pretty excited, definitely the best overall finish I have ever had and it felt great. :D

Videos! First is a rather entertaining run from Saturday, car got sideways forcing me to take the opposite side of the slalom I wanted to take. Second is my final and fastest run from Sunday.

awesome finish, Congrats! Car looks way better than last year. Why would someone run with no front sway bar?

Thanks! The E36 is aparently pretty rusty underneath, enough so that the swaybar mount points are gone.

A car that rusted would never pass tech with my club.

From what I have heard that spot on E36's is particularly prone to rust. They don't inspect the underside of the car in Tech.

Yeah, that was me in the e36. It hindsight it was a terrible idea but I was itching to get out there and try having some fun - I'll defintely never attempt that again. I was hoping to run both days but, uh, nope, not happening, lol. No harm was done except to my ego, and myself getting badly sunburned. In all it was another learning experience...

Anyway, this thread isn't about me. It was great seeing and hearing Nick carve that e30 around the course!

Lol Tony he has/had a couple E30's. IMO as long as the car is safe, no harm in beating the crap out of it and having a blast. You honestly looked pretty good out there too, I think I mentioned it to you at the event, but you were one of the better ones I saw going through the slalom, nice and tight on the cones.
