So had a great time today at the track today. Had our club's first Auto-x up in Shawano @ USAIR and enjoyed me some spinning tires. The day did have it's ups and downs though... lol!

We had a record showing today, 100 entries. CRAZY! Our typical showing is around 50-60, but we made do. Still got 8 runs in and finished by 4:15. The day started off well, ran a couple runs and got some decent times.... then the first hiccup happened... the vacuum hose on the brake booster blew off off of the start leaving me with no brake assist. That's always pleasant to find out when your coming in hot into the first 90 deg. curve. Positive side, it's likely that it's been the cause of all of my idle issues. Time will tell. I "fixed" it with some duct, but that really didn't do much anything so I finished the day out with substandard brakes. LOL!

Made a few more runs, then, when coming through a hairpin curve the engine died and would refire.... JOY! Had to get pushed off the track, but luckily got it started again after realizing that one of the Main relays popped out.

Finally, I finished my runs on high note with a clean 68.882 second run which put me 14th out of 100 cars on RAW times. PAX times I get killed being an SM car unfortunately though. Not too bad in my opinion. Link to the final results below.

http://www.fvscc.com/results/2016_Summer/event2_raw.htm

Then for one last bit of entertainment.... I lost a tail light..... it literally fell off the car. :( It was already broken from the crash it suffered a long time ago and was only held in with the back cover so I am really not that surprised.

EIther way, Had a great day. :) I am tired now though. haha! I am sure I'll have some cool photos from our members to share soon.

How does a relay just "pop" out? SAme with your vac line to the booster? That thing is in there pretty good!

wow buik century in last place at +24. minute lap time is pretty long for an autox IMO. I think most are like 50 seconds or below. Plus for someone to have a full minute and a half is kinda funny.

Also, cmon miata guy. How you gonna get 97th place in a car made for this?

318is LEGO racer? lol relay, hose, and tail light just popped off like they were built out of Lego blocks. :-D

I'm just messin with ya. I've had things randomly fall off my cars too, so I know how it is... Just never 3 unrelated things on teh same day.

btw, I think you meant to say "engine died and WOULDN'T refire" up there.?

man 800 runs is crazy, must have been busy at the trailer. Drift Chi town held an event up at Union Grove on their new skid pad yesterday. I really wanted to check it out but boating won out, not that I'm complaining, I love being on the water. My e30 is still in storage until I can get this endless Chevelle project on the road.

Yeah, we had a ton of noobs. It's ok, gotta start somewhere. :)

I know, it was a rough day for Icy. lol! The relay was a oddity I think... Somehow wiggled out just about an 1/8". Weird. Tail light.... I quite honestly was surprised it held on for the last year and a half like it did. lol! :) The vacuum line I think is due to the line being a tad too short and the engine torquing on it... this in turn ruined the little grommet on the booster. I am hoping I can replace it... and don't need a whole new booster.

Anyway, here's a few photos from the event. Photo Credit goes to Austin Boynton:

How wide are those rear tires? Careful if you ever drive that car through NJ, someone might steal your mudflaps and put them on a Subaru. :-D

haha! I just noticed that I was actually putting a sandal on in that photo.... lol! I actual race barefoot... unless I have shoes on that day. I know I know... not safe.

I have to put the front flares on soon as well. I am liking the look. :) It's crazy how far up into the rear flare the tire is going.....lol!

I am running the new Maxxis VR-1 tires this year, 245/40/15's. :)

Those are only 245's? They look huge! They look as wide as the 285's I have on my Suburban!

lol I like the look you're giving the camera in that last pic. It's looks like you're thinking "WTF are you taking pics of bro?"

you drive barefoot? That would drive me crazy, I wear wrestling shoes because I like the tightness and thick toe pad for heel/toe. I surprised the club allows that, MCSCC would never allow that. I love ICY, so raw!

I am sure I am not really supposed to do that.... I don't always do it though. lol!

I really like the car. I just got a new rear tail light, properly mounted this time... and two new sport seats for it. Much nicer! :)

However, now I can't find them damn keys for it!!!! ARGH!!! LOL!
