Tony, lower speed slaloms will really exagerate a slow steering rack. Not sure if an E36 rack would be noticable enough to matter at the higher speeds you usually run.

I think the stock ratio feels great on the tracks I run, but after doing that autox at Miller Park I can see how a shorter ratio would help. I felt like I was going to take off my arms were flapping around so much through the slaloms.

Yep, harness bars are allowed in all classes, so long as it bolts to 2 points only and doesn't serve any other purpose (chassis stiffening). For street prepared and higher they are probly not even that restrictive about them.

I'm sure I'll get some flame for this, but for SOLO don't they allow the Schroth style 4 point harness that mounts to all stock seat belt locations? Thats what I am currently running and am very happy, and feel very safe in it after doing the research to find the testing procedures and certifications. The schroth designed included a breakaway portion of the right shoulder belt that releases in an accident and rotates the torso instead of submerging it. Its DOT approved, so it has passed some rigorous testing. They are very nice units that fill in the gap between someone getting more heavily involved in the sport but not having the car fully prepped with harness bars or cages. Additionally they hold you very tight to the seat giving you an amazing amount of attachment with the car and feeling exactly whats going on through the track.

Ummm, why don't you just show up to the tech inspector with a big smile on your face and see what he says? You might get a yes...

I just thought of something that dashes my temp harness bar idea... IF you do happen to roll over the harness will be sure to hold you in place so the smashed roof will break your neck.

They mount to the rear seat belt mounting locations. You retain all the factory 3 point belt functionality as well which is nice if you plan to still drive the car on the street.
