Damn, that's crazy expensive. You could buy a whole junk yard engine for that much. Why did the bolts need to be replaced?

On the s54 the bolts will loosen up and shear over time, the new ones are of a different type of metal. I also locktited them. The exhaust hub tabs breaking is also common, theres a ton of people with the same issue. I found my old mechanical fan today and its the same p/n as the new m3 one, surprised me.

Got the gear paid for, sold my sub box this afternoon, hope to have it in before next weekend.

Got the m3 back on the road a while back, runs great now. No more rolling idle!

I just put some new tires on yesterday too. Went from a 225/45/18 front and 255/40/18 rear to a set of pirrelli p-zero rosso's in 255/35/18 front and 285/35/18 rear. No rubbing, I thought it would. Damn I wish I could fit wide tires on the e30 like this.

I ordered a set of vogtland (sp) springs a few weeks ago as well should give a 1.0" drop front and rear but the seller hasn't provided shipping info. Went back and fourth saying it shipped but wont give any tracking#. Opened a claim last night.

Man those are some huge tires! Will look great with a bit of a drop, if you ever get those springs.

I got the springs installed Friday after work, drop is quite a bit up front and a little in back. It has no rubbing through suspension travel at all and ride quality is slightly firmer than stock. I might add a 5-8mm spacer out back to make the fitment look better. I went to the carwash this morning and saw a small group of Ferrari's there, didn't get any pics. But I did take some after I washed/waxed the M

Hi! paint is shiny lol!

Removed the DINAN badge off the trunk. And ordered some tails in the LED variety Friday night so they will be in next week.

I recovered the scratched to hell Titan silver interior trim pieces with 3m di-noc graphite carbon fiber vinyl wrap (p/n: CA-420). Its really easy to work with and only cost $100 for a 48"x48" roll. Still need to do the rear armrests. It came out pretty good! I'll find out how long it holds up.

Got a call from Precision Turbo on Friday as well, total repair bill for the turbo: $89 YAY!!! Will be here Thursday. Need to install the new wastegate before then and slap the turbo back together and be back on the road with the iX.

Edit: pic of the lights I ordered:

Doesn't even look like the same car anymore, great work man! Really liking that interior recovering too, that actually looks very legit and not tacky.

It helps that I get paid to work on European vehicles and love what I do. When I was in tech school for BMW (BMW STEP class 22) I was trained on the e46 when the M3 came out. Best memory of that was having the teacher in the pass seat showing me how to set the smg into burnout mode and then burning out bouncing it off the rev limiter while he was yelling @ me to shift lol!

Fortunately I came across a few deals, the springs were < $200 off ebay and the tires walked in the shop from a guy wanting to sell some slk55 mercedes takeoff rims/tires (have maybe 5k on them) I told him $600 for the set of tires (I was looking at $600 for just the rear new) and he said sure. The led tails are broken (burn't out a few rows) so I'll be fixing them and got them cheap. It has been about 3 weeks in the making but you have to get a little creative if you really want to make it happen. I sold a few things too. Main thing I really learned is to buy the things that really take abuse like turbos, cams/valvesprings, brakes and steering components new the rest can be used or refurbished especially on the e30 I've got a huge list to do on it still.

the e46 is looking great! I actually really like the vinyl you used in the interior. Starting to look like a proper BMW again.
