Thanks, but I can't take much credit aside from paying the bills, lol. My buddy is doing the body work, I'm just a unskilled labor when he needs it. There is still a LOT of work left, but this was a huge step towards the end.

There is some dust and junk that got in the paint, just part of spraying in a garage, but it will all come out when we wet sand and buff. There are still a few things to paint like the headlight bezels, rear valance, fuel cell, and grill trim. Once the base coat is done we need to paint the SS stripes on too.

The only problem area is the nose of the hood that was damaged in shipping, and we forgot to fix before painting...

We're going to strip the damaged area down to bare metal and try to pull it out with a stud gun and slide hammer, then shape it with a skim coat of bondo. Once its fixed we'll probably end up respraying the whole hood.

It does irk me every day, lol. I wasn't there when he painted the hood and he missed it. No big deal, it will be fixed.

Stripes will be black with purple pearlescent clear. Yeah man, it was a huge step for me personally. I know there is a lot of work left, but but I needed this motivation.

Little update, got the hood stripes painted, I think they look awesome. Changes the whole look of the car.

Image

Stopped by today and he was just starting to tape off the trunk stripes, so they should be painted in a couple days depending on weather. We've decided to take the car all the way and micro finish it, so once all the paint work is done the whole car will e wet sanded with 2000, then buffed with Finesse, then buffed with micro finish. Should make the car look wet all the time, can't wait.

After all that I get it back for the winter to do the interior and hook up the fuel cell, then a new master cylinder to feed the new rear discs, and a set of drag radials will get it back on the road. Obviously I have a lot of work to do, stuff like getting and installing all the new chrome, but I'm just glad to see progress picking back up.

I need to learn paint skills like this. There's a rough patch of fisheyed paint on the wifes car. Need to learn how to get that out.

Yep, took him quite a while to get it acceptable.

Few more pics, should be wet sanding with 2000 on the whole car very soon.
