With all the euro goodies and the well set-up drivetrain and a clean body you'd have a sexy sexy car : )

I'd keep the 323 as a long term project/resto. If I were stateside, would def be looking to take it off your hands for the exact purpose.

I am still torn on the subject since it is a pretty cool car. Its just really bad and I don't have all the tools / skills to do it right. Realistically this thing needs to be torn down, striped, patched, painted and then re assembled in order to be good again I think.

I gots some thinking to do. Lol

The more and more that I think about this 323i, I think I should save it. Though the rust is quite bad, I've kinda always wanted the chance to take on a project like this. Its going to be a ton of work, but I think I could be worth it in the end.

Tony, I was going back and looking at Court's thread because I wanted to see how he took care of the rust on his 323 and I saw that you took care of it. Is that correct? Do you have any pointers, good sites to visit to learn more on the proper way to do this? If I am going to under take a project like this I want it to look half way decent in the end.

I'll be digging it out of the snowbank tomorrow with the intention of pulling up the carpet to get a better look at the floors. I have a feeling there's not much left. lol.

Best advice I can give you is don't be scared to cut into it, even more than you think. Check out my build thread, page 1 through like 10 maybe, lots of rust repair documented on my car: http://e30performance.info/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=934

Glad your going to save it!

Kinda need to ID all the rust spots first before figuring out if it's salvagable. IE see the full extent of the rust from all angles.

Glad you are saving it, as that was my intention as well to take on a long term project and save/restore a car. There is a 2002 chassis here for $200 bucks I'd love to tackle.
