Yoshi's M20 build thread

Postby Yoshi » Thu Sep 25, 2014 11:49 am

Been hard up for cash lately and someone finally bit on some rims I had for sale. Gave me cash and all his M20 stuff. So now I have an M20.

I'm planning to build a little stand and get the motor running. Just because. No idea why. I figure I might see how long the engine will run with the exhaust hooked back up to the intake. Cuz why not?

I also thought about putting a trans on it and welding the output to a diff input and making a 5 speed go kart. But that seems like more effort than I want.

iunno. Thoughts? What should I do with it?

It's a B25. Not that I care for what I'm doing with it. Tinker tinker.

I was only asking because you'd probably be able to resell it if you couldn't find a nice use for it. The price on M20s has gone up in the last few years down here.

I love tinkering... That would be a big go-kart!

Really? The guy I got the motor from said he put it for sale for $50 for 2 months and no one wanted it. Shit, the oil pan is worth more than that!

Whaaat? They sell for 10 times that with a trans... The "E30 tax" as it's been called is seriously high down here.

Most people with E30s around here ditched the M20 a long time ago. So things like transmissions are still in high desire. But the M20 itself is not. You can pick up a swapped E30 for a few grand.

That's wild...

Used and abused price: http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/cto/4663104797.html

Typical "nice late-year E30" price: http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/cto/4685205795.html

And then the "yeah that's nice, but DAMN" price: http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/4667029872.html

Ironically, I posted a picture on instagram (@protomor) and someone immediately offered me cash for it. Seeing as I got it for free... I think I'm going to sell it.
