I know, seems crazy but I guess once a complete chassis lineup is out of warranty dealers consider them old and don't stock much...I remember when my neighbors Dad bought a new '89 325i sedan and coupe at the same time, so I guess that makes me old.

I'll admit, this project has quite gotten away from me. Much more money has gone into it than I'd like...

Well nothing ever goes 100% smooth for me. The car ran great to the gas station. And then almost died on the way home. Stumbled and I ran a stop sign just so I wasn't going up hill when it died.

Codes were/are:
P0306 - cyl 6 misfire
P0141 - O2 heater? Which one?
P0101 - MAF or maybe vac leak
P1510 - ICV not happy.

Well it turns out, I broke the little elbow connection for the FPR to the intake a while ago and forgot that I couldn't find a part number for it on realoem. If anyone can find it for me, please please send it! So I just jurry rigged it with a hose clamp and a fuel line I wasn't using. I think the MAF got coolant on it since I wasn't running a filter for a little bit so I swapped it out with the one from the 323 engine. Unfortunately, the O2 sensors went with the old car so I don't have those. I went back out and the car ran much better. Sadly, I won't pass safety/emissions with that last code so I'll have to pick up some O2 sensors. Which one is bank 1? "Activation, ox.-sensor heater after cat.conv., bank 1" is the code I'm getting from pasoft.

Home stretch!

One of the best things about Michigan is no vehicle inspections at all! I know that doesn't help you much, but it sure does help a few of us on here.

Bank 1 is usually the passenger side on a V engine, I would assume it holds true to inline engines.

Tony is funny. bank 1 is 1-3 cylinders so front header. Just... gotta remove the motor mount arm to get that header out since I can't reach it otherwise.

Who fails you for safety inspection for a driver's window not going down? Bah stupid VA laws. This car has so many little nagging things <_< $160 for both driver's and passenger's side regulators. Should be here tomorrow. The emissions system isn't fully "Ready" since I haven't done any 50mph driving for 20 min. Thanks BMW. Just let me pass damnit.

In other news. I'm selling my house and I have a baby due in 5 months. This is going to suck.

haha, selling the house will suck but the baby will be awesome. VA has laws almost as bad a cali. I have family in the Richmond area that bitch about it. Fun fact, my Chevelle is from VA, still has an old inspection sticker on the windshield from like '02 or something.

VA isn't that bad. most places in it don't require emissions. I happen to live just outside DC.. so I have emissions. YAY.

Can you just bring it to a place further away that doesn't require it? Or does it go by where you actually live? Use somebody elses address to register it?

The short answer is, I have to keep my nose clean for government job purposes. So while I could register it somewhere without emissions... it's a bad idea.

So car passed safety and emissions. Gonna start driving it around. Competition clutch wants a write up and what not about the clutch after 500 miles. So I'm very fine with that!

The DSC light went out on its own so aside from needing to fill the washer res, the car as NO LIGHTS. The cruise control works too which is amazing since E30 auto to manual swaps generally don't retain that.

E46 pluses:
Auto dimmer rear view mirror so people can't blind me
3 settings on the heated seats (60F this morning so it was niiiice)
One touch all windows including moon roof
MOON ROOF
OBC functions from the turn indicator stalk
The DME let me flash out the need to have the clutch down to start the car.
etc etc.

<3 this car! It's just slow and has a clutch heavier than your feelings at the end of old yeller.

lol my car had light for washer res since I bought it. I just filled it yesterday. It used to leak until I replaced the pump grommet, but I never filled it back up after I replaced that.

What OBC functions does it allow that e30's don't?

None of my e30's need the clutch down to start. Just bend the piece of metal that holds the clutch switch in place. :-D

I think all the OBC stuff is the same. Except the outside temp sensor works lol. It's just that the OBC is in the cluster instead of in the center console.

The clutch down to start thing seems to be in all modern cars. I just like the fact that I turned it off via software and didn't have to modify anything.
