Got my new CPS installed.

Haven't been able to test drive since I'm on babysitter duty until my Wife gets home from work. I can't wait until Jase is old enough to come with me.

Opened up a package I got two years ago from Court, lol.

FUCK!

New CPS didn't fix a damn thing!!!! I'm seriously at a fucking loss here. I'm going to swap the FPR over from my Dad's car and see if that fixes it but hopes are low on that. THe damn fuel pump doesn't make a sound, doubt it's that...

What was the problem again?

But yea the ads in car stuff run the gambit. It's hilarious. Why would it even be worth advertising that in car mags? Though, I'm not sure that ad is from a car mag.

It won't go over 4800 rpm in any gear under WOT, but will go to redline at partial throttle.

It's not a car mag, just newspaper Court used to pack the hub with.

That doesn't look like a normal newspaper...

I had issues with my car and that kind of break up. I think it wound up being spark plugs/gapping or loss of signal. I forget. Or maybe it was running too rich and couldn't ignite the mixture.

Or maybe it was bad coil settings. too much or not enough dwell.....

Stock ECU and stock chip...Plugs are the same as when it was running great, pulled checked and cleaned.

Already swapped the entire ign system minus coil with known good, no change. Plugs aren't the problem. Just did a compression check and it was near perfect 150 across all but one cylinder (3) which was 140. Assuming it needs a valve adjustment so I'm doing it just to eliminate that. 10psi low on one cylinder wouldn't cause this issue though. Going to pull a vacuum reading next.

All that loving and she still doesn't want to treat you right. I end up replacing so many things tracking down a problem that I forget the problem in the first place. Apparently my newest cars PO did because every ignition system item is new as well as new internal and external fuel pumps before the relay (problem) was replaced. Here's to finding it sooner rather than later -graffiti-

Just try new plugs damnit. Try a new coil too. Any weak link in the ignition system will cause this.

I'll get some plugs tomorrow, and swap the coil with my good one.

Seconding fuel pressure gauge if the coil doesn't fix this. The last E30 I saw at the track with this issue had a combo of problems: wiring for ignition sub-harness was fraying, and the fuel pump would struggle under high load. Do M20s have a limp mode like M50s do when they lose speed sensor input? They have a ~5000RPM ignition cut in that situation.

E30s don't need speed sensor inputs. It just goes to the gauge. Ask how I know :-p
