FIXED!!!

Tested the AFM and it had a dead spot at WOT. Swapped in the one from my Dad's car and promptly proceeded to bang through 1st through 3rd happily bouncing off the revlimiter.

Good news is I can use my Dad's AFM for a baseline dyno run. Bad news is he'll need it back for this season and I'm not buying another one when I have an MS3 sitting on the shelf. So I guess I now have less than a month to get my MS installed and tuned before the 1st points event...

I'd get a new AFM. MS' take a while to install and iron out the kinks to get full hp out of em.

yeah...I just can't being myself to spend $120+ for a used AFM when I have the MS sitting there, you know? My Dad and I run different classes, I guess we could swap them between runs for the first few events. We get a 6 week break in the middle of the season when I could get it installed. I dunno, just don't want to buy an AFM. Anyone wanna give me one? lol.

So, should I run my stock chip for the dyno session, or the ebay chip I was running before? Car feels faster with the chip, but IDK.

side note: at some point a PO opened my AFM and did something to it. There is rigid gasket make sealing the black cap on. Never even noticed until I compared it to the untouched one in my Dad's car.

So, Mr. Tony. I have at least 2 known AFMs sitting in my basement, pay shipping and it's yours? : ) Only issue is me digging through it all to find it but that's something I'm definitely willing to do. Let me know and I can have it out as early as tomorrow morning :D

I'd be interested to see what difference the chip makes whp wise.

Corbin, that's awesome! What would shipping be from your APO to 60002?

That video is great, I'm going to open mine up tonight and see what's up. Since it was opened at least once before I'm curious to see the condition of the resistor.

well, didn't get a chance to crack the AFM open tonight, tomorrow maybe. I did get a few minutes to install the hub and wheel, and I'm damn happy! It feels great, and the smaller diameter is really nice.

Don't mind how filthy the interior is, haven't had a chance to do any spring cleaning.

I like it. Don't know how it will hold up with just glue but it looks good :D

If Tony did his stitching right, the glue is really just there for extra security.

No stitches lol. To my defense, the leather I took off was only glued on too and it was still difficult to get off. I think it will hold up just fine.

popped open the AFM tonight. Just like the video showed the resistor contact strip was totally worn where the armature touched it. I bent the arm to contact a fresh strip and took some readings. The dead spot is gone, and it climbs in resistance right up to WOT, at which point it drops just a tad (4.01 down to 3.8-3.9) so I'm not sure if that is going to cause an issue. I closed it back up and will test it tomorrow.

You can see where it was opened before.

You can see how I bent it to contact a new area of the contact strip.

I'll report back tomorrow night on whether it worked or not.
