87 is no bleeding on rear brakes?

Postby M20_fever » Sat Oct 15, 2011 5:38 pm

my buddy has an 87is and his brake pedal went to the floor on a hot lap. when he pulled into the paddock the master was low on fluid. we filled it and pumped the brake and it kept bubbling and the fluid would keep going down. it finally stopped after about half a bottle of fluid. now we can get a good bleed on the fronts, but nothing from the rears, no pressure at all.

ideas?

if it helps he was hard on the brakes with the abs kicking in when they went out.

Are the pistons movable in the rear caliper bores? Any scoring or something that could be causing them to stick, on the sliders or the bores?

no, it was the master. we located a new one around 30min from the track. while he got a ride to buy the new part I spent my time between timed runs pulling his old one out so it would be ready to drop the new one in. It went fairly smoothly with him getting 2 timed runs. He said it felt so much harder than even before they failed.

kinda makes me want to swap a new one into mine.

Kind of a shot in the dark, lol. We just figured there was a better chance the master went versus the abs unit, and a fairly close parts store had the master in stock so we said f*ck it and went for it. We were so stoked when it all worked out and he actually got some points runs in.
