e21?

Postby AustinR » Tue Apr 03, 2012 2:17 am

Anyone on here ever own/drive an e21? I've been thinking about getting one for a while now but I can't find one, nor do I know anyone who has one I can drive first.

Never been in one, but the local CCA chapter has some really nice ones that show up at the local meets. Pretty neat little cars, but if I was going to go that old I'd get an 02.

I've driven a couple 320i's and would defiantly prefer an 02'. Don't get me wrong they are very nice for what they have.

BMW should have waited and come out with the e30 as the replacement for the 02'. (would have made all of our cars that much more desirable :D)

The only older BMW I would look into besides the 2002 would be an e9, 3.0 cs or csi. Done a few 5 speed conversions on them. But I'm a lil different, lol!

Hmm. Good to know. I like them cuz they're a little different. It seems people have an 02 or an e30 or newer. Not many e21s.

I'd take a 507 over just about anything.

Oooo, that's nice.
I see this e21 and drool. It's a bit low for me, but man is it clean.

That 507 is just beautiful. But if I was going to have a quirky old BMW, I would say that this one takes the cake:

BMW 700 RS, basically a purpose built hillclimb car.

But on the debate between 2002 and E21, never really been a fan of the looks of an E21, but I do love the 2002. And the 3.0 CSL as mentioned.

I hear E21s have rust issues and handle like a bag of dicks. That's about all I know about them.

My first car was an e21. I loved that car SO much. Traded it in for a brand new telephone pole though. Damn.

I've never handled a bag of dicks, so I couldn't compare, but I loved the way my e21 handled. It DID have a severe rust problem though. Like the way my foot went through the floor when I was driving through Virginia. Had to go the rest of the way to West Virginia with my hand on the gas, my elbow on the shifter, and my chin on the wheel, or something like that.

I think an important question would be whether it's a bag of hard dicks, or soft squishy dicks...

They looks cool. But from a mechanical standpoint I would say the e30 is superior. Im sure they are fun little cars when in good shape.

Mine was fun even in shitty shape. I loved fishtailing in it. Couldn't ask for a better car for the $200 it cost me 17 years ago.
