Oil grade question

Postby Mne666 » Tue Jun 11, 2013 10:03 pm

Hi

Just about to flush and change the oil in the 318 m40.

Where I live temps are at best mid 20's but generally about 15.

The car only does a 20 miles on a weekend so I was wondering what grade oil you would recommend? It's done 143k.

I was thinking about 15w 40? Or is that too thick?

Judging from the M40-powered 318, distance measurement in miles, and the low difference in temps (implying Centigrade), I'd say you're in the UK. 15-20C temps = 15w-40 is perfect.

Hi, yep I'm in the uk.. Cool, I wasn't sure between 5 40 and 15 40, but once temps here get down to below 5c the car will be put away for winter
