I think the duals should quiet things down pretty good. Now that the car is finally back, I'd like to take a look under it but it freaking snowed :(

3" all the way through... Glasspack -> 3.5" Hooker AeroChamber

Yoshi wrote:Borla XS seems to be cheap but also decent quality. I have one on my S52 car and it does great. I wonder how much quieter the duals will make it. Maybe I only need 2 mufflers back there. I'd have to make the exhaust then have to do it all over again.

Literally just checked out those mufflers today - definitely a contender... What else do you have on the S52 car?

I always forget about them... Might try one of them aswell.

The mufflers on the S52 is somewhere in that thread. It's 2 mufflers. I know one is a borla XS, the other might just be some random cheapo. I also have a high flow cat.

So after staring under the car, I've decided there isn't space for 4 mufflers. I also decided that there isn't room on the passenger's side of the car for a muffler. Even then, it's close enough to the filler neck that I don't want to put it there.

See picture for more information about what I'm dealing with.

SO! What I'm thinking. Fat ass cat to pass visual inspection (doesn't have to actually work). Then get a 4 inch in, dual 3 inch out muffler. Run the pipes parallel until it gets to where the factory muffler was. Then stagger 2 borla XS mufflers. Exit rear together.

Thoughts? Also, Where the hell can I get a cat that big? Don't really feel like getting two 3 inch cats since it's more there for show than go.

Why is that poor car laying on its side? Looks like it's napping. :-P

Is there even room for a 4 inch or dual 3 inch pipes? Looking under my car I was wondering if I could even fit 2.5 inch pipe for when I finally do my exhaust.

There's a 4 inch pipe there now lol. I'm gonna tuck it where the factory cats were. There's more space there and the pipe already goes through there. I figure it's the best spot to do that. I'll do my best to tuck the 3 inchers by the subframe and under the axles. I've fit a 3 inch before so dual shouldn't be so bad.

Sound like ot will work. If you just need a visual cat why not just hack a used one off a Camaro and gut it?

I wasn't aware camaros have 4 inch pipes. or you mean 2 3 inch pipes? I'd have to go find one. Real cats tend to be pretty expensive too.

I agree, 4" cats are f'ing expensive or at least were when I was looking at em years ago and I could imagine they only got more expensive. I'd agree with Tony but your plan might not allow for two 3" cats, the rest of the plan looks good though. Love that pic btw, it looks like the car is taking a nap after a good ol' "I give up".

I can find hiflow 3" cats for like $100 each and a 4" for $350?? wtf?

I just don't want to add too much restriction. I feel like the 3" cats will be much more of a restriction than a single 4. Space isn't THAT big of an issue I guess.

OK! So here's the plan. Cut off and flange the 4 inch pipe just after the trans. Shove this mofo on:
http://www.jegs.com/i/Magnaflow/642/145 ... ProductId=

4 inch in, dual 3 out.

Figured I could do the teal area with 4 - 45 degree bends. The red straights are just some pipe and the mufflers there will be:
http://www.streetsideauto.com/p/borla-b ... OgodSHsA-g

Dual borla XS mufflers with offset in/outs to position the pipes closer to the diff so the axles don't hit. I measured and it should just fit in the area where the factory muffler was. The tail pipes might look a bit odd coming out but I'm not sure about that.

Toss on cats if the state safety guy gets pissy.

Thoughts?

Looks like a good plan, I don't think that they'll have issue with the cat but you never know with people.

If it all fits it should be nice and quiet.
